Don sounds good. It's always good to see some videos........

We got the Supercat ready to go into the trailer tomorrow. Looks like it's going to a show ;). We are the new people at the local track and this is the first time to this track with the car. Hoping it runs as good as it looks...
We may go Saturday afternoon to run the car but it is also an NHRA point race #5 day so not sure as it may be crowded. Sunday is an all day test sesion so that is a given.
Have a great 4th.

Have a great day. I feel your angst all the way up here. I don't know about you but I am always nervous about the first time out. Either with a whole car or with a new cam or manifold like I was with this. Stomach is on knots as I drive to the track. In fact sometimes I feel like going back home. However once I am there I settle down. Sometimes I make only one run at first then go home and think about it. I am able to think stuff through better at home then try and sort it out at the track with 50 experts who drove there in Passats and Camrys offering unsolicited advice. This video was the second time out for the new manifold and headers. Obviously we were on track and once the burble is dealt with it is certainly going to be good. I hope all goes well for you this weekend. Safety first of course and then a good strong first pass. I am anxious to see how you make out.

For $9.99 I bought a cheap video camera from Excess Cargo. My good one was always messing up, turning off automatically and I couldn't tell in the sunlight if it was on or not. The cheapie will run two hours straight so I turn it on in the pits and leave it. Since at the Airfield they run a hot lane for us it never needs more then about 5 minutes or so. The only usable in car video I ever got was with it. I made a small bracket for it and tape it to the roll cage. Very hard for me anyway to run the car and the camera otherwise. Here is the camera

Good luck

The GoPro is excellent but it is complicated to set up. I have a Hero 3 Black edition which has way too many options in the menu. The best thing that I have done lately is to get the GoPro app working on my iPhone. Now I can control the camera with the phone, including being able to see what the camera is recording. I also have a Replay XD which is much more compact but does not have as many mounting options.
We have learned quite a bit by being able to watch Mark's car up close during runs.

Take time to build a proper rear stand for the car. Offcials see that and you will get a talking to

Bruce we have a rubber belted stand that goes just behind the rear engine plate. We use the jack to lift it up to that point. We were double checking the timing for the log book and had already removed the stand. If the wheels are spinning the stand is in-place. Our car is also never running without anyone in the seat. We saw "many" cars Sunday running with no one in the seat.  :o.

Thanks Glen

No George no firewood. We had mocked up the bracket that bolts to the jack and it has a receiver groove that locks into the rear of the chassis. What is in the video is bolted to the pads of the jack. We are finishing the tube perch that will bolt to the jack pads. Should be done with that this week.
Working 55-60 hrs a week in the heat slows the racing productivity a bit.....

A little humor intended-- Firewood/fire up.
