5 Point cages have to be 1 5/8" dia !!!!!!!!

1 1/2" is only for 6 point !!!!!

I must be missing something. I'm looking at current versions of 2.6A and 2.4C. Both state (III,1,a) that "The entire roll cage shall be constructed of 1 1/2'' x .065" tubing with a minimum of five (5) points of attachment to the shoulder hoop(s)."
 The only reference I find (both specs, III,1,g) to an 1-5/8" requirement is when roll cage height from shoulder hoop centerline to the roll cage hoop centerline exceeds 18", in which case 6 points AND 1-5/8" are required.
 So I'm a bit confused, here...
Just keep the same amount of stuff on the right
as there is on the left. Seeing straight ahead is highly overrated....

Only have 2.2c spec. It does say if 5 point cage it has to be 1 5/8 tubing. Now the slower specs might be different.

Your right, havent done a slower spec frame in awhile that I am use to fuel spec. But here is some confusion. The NHRA rule book showing chassie spec for 10sec and slower shows the min dia for a 5point cage on a dragster at 1 5/8 x .065 moly, so now you reduce the dia to 1 1/2" for 5points for a full 4 seconds until you reach 6.0 where it goes back up to 1 5/8" dia.

Now that that is all cleared up-----GET BACK TO WORK!!!

Too cold, BAH!  14 deg in Northern Michigan but it is a toasty 68 in the shop. 

So what does this Dad do with his 10 year old daughter after Church on a Sunday????

She shows me how to do fiberglass.  Yes that is what I said. My Daughter and my buddy worked on the nose on Saturday and then she showed me how to get it done the next.  Ever hear the song "who's gonna fill their shoes"?  Just working on the next generation. ;D

  Remove the belts off the car when cutting-grinding-welding anywhere near them

spent Sunday working on my car, re-did some tubes and brackets which were MIG welded on and were just ugly.   My chassis builder had some 3mm straps under the seat pan.  I felt these would bend easilly in a crash so I cut them out.  Will be putting some 7/8th tube in to replace.   Whilst I had the chassis turned over my pal noticed my kidney bars were only 3/4 welded so I finished these off.

Had a little play with my latest toy too, I just bopught a shrinker / stretcher.  Each time I use it, I feel like a caveman discovering fire, can't believe I attempted sheet metal work without one.
