I fired up the Sr Dragsters Slant six to check the new tach install. (Thumbs up)I did a small thing to the ignition  had been putting off since last year. Then I turned my attention to the other rail, the 318 Poly deal.  I turned on my small foundry and melted some aluminum muffins to pour a steering adapter for the steering shaft of unknown origin. Then I machined it and stuck it in its home for a pic. This method gave me a proper spline for the shaft . I used masking tape to get enuf clearance and pressed it snuggly into the splines. Turned out pretty good I thought.

Wel this was not all done today, but within the last week,
The engine was run and ran well

We had a coolant leak on the right head.

Took it apart

Put it back together

Made an improvement to the coolant system

Put together a list of items that need to be completed to go to the track on the 27th

I have been welding on fuel tank most of evening. Its either the aluminum or thye xxxx welder(me) thats not working. Getting good flow is SOB tonight. Im not the worlds best aluminum welder anyway but most the time I decent. Got pissed so figured sitting down for beer ot two might be good idea.

As they say no time like the present to get back at it.

I fabbed a cable end and installed the north end of my fuel shutoff cable yesterday. I've been busy remodelling a rental house and working to fund my habit. MAYBE...I'll get out there this afternoon and work on fabricating my fuel shutoff lever and cable mounting bracket. Got invited to the 11 May event in Commerce, GA but don't have the right wheels, injector, current certs, drivers license, etc. I'll just stay close to home and play at my local track, when I finish with all the little details.  Thought for the day, "Rev her 'till she pukes!)

Worked on a new scoop mount today . I am going to try my anteater scoop again . The last time I had it on the car I could not see anything in front of me . I cut about 3 inches off the bottom and fiberglassed a plate inside of it

Bill, It looks like you're going to be ready soon! Keep up the good work. I picked up a golf cart this weekend. Every little bit helps.

Finally..... fabbed my fuel shutoff lever and welded the cable bracket to the frame, using the same pivot as the chute cable. (Thanks Roo) Also welded the remote oil filter brackets in place. I have a Moroso filter (built like an Oberg) thats been lying around for 10 yrs. Hopefully it won't leak.  ;D
