1182 SBC factory Cranks--How Much Can they Take?
« on: November 29, 2014, 12:40:34 PM »
Scored a couple of nice 1182 forged 350 cranks--I plan on running plain old 350's for a while in stock blocks--domes, decent heads , roller cams etc on my injected alky rail  Think they will stand up OK with light rods and light pistons? I don't see turning over about 7200 ever  --they do not have a fancy radius ground in just plain Janes--what do you guess HP limit is with light parts, drag engine? Thanks

Dave That 350 forged crank is a pretty good piece . I cant tell you exactly how much HP I made but we ran low 8.20's at 160 using a decent piston with allum rods at around 7500 rpm . Bill

Dave:
Those crankshafts will take a light assembly and run for a long time.
What hurts any crankshaft is weight of rotating parts and shock.
If that engine has too much timing or lean or just too much load, That kills crankshafts.
Just have it magnufluxed first. 99% of those crankshafts came out of trucks.
