So what changes did you make when you got "cocky" and what was the original main pill?

I agree with dreracecar, on my SBC, I have 11:1 compression, spinning the blower 10% over with 30° timing in the mag for my mild setup.

That's a dragster, anything over 125 inch wheelbase is a dragster imo.

Over the last few weekends, I've been doing a couple of projects on my altered, add a shift light and and make a shifter for my powerglide.

On adding a shift light, got all the necessary items for adding a shift light on Vertex magneto motor, the trigger, all brackets and of coarse, the shift light. The only thing that has worked as advertised is the crank trigger, which is from Spud at FIE, everything else needed lots of work, the mounting bracket needed a bracket made so it would work and I'm still having issues with the new tach/shift light combo, tach won't show rpm if the rpm is below the shift set point and I'm on the second combo set, argh! Here's a picture of the FIE crank trigger and the brackets I had to make to hold the store-bought brackets:

The second part was making a new shifter, I had bought and tried a couple and wasn't happy with either one and instead of spending more money on a shifter that probably would not meet my needs, I decided to make my own. I spent a lot of time on my CAD designing the pattern, I wanted something simple but reliable and here's what I came up with, ii is still in the rough mode as I want to make a couple of passes before I finish it up, it's at the bottom of the picture:

The shifter has a spring-loaded nylon block that forces it into the correct position, I'm still working on the reverse lockout.

Anyway, that is what I've been doing on my altered :)

Harley, my car is old school lay-down type so I lay in my seat and my head lays on the headrest.

I mounted mine by hand and balanced them using a cheap Harbor Freight bubble balancer, no vibrations. Met a guy whose got a hi-dollar NFC and he has the same bubble balancer and hes not had any vibrations either.

Harley, I have a headrest in my altered, it's an older Taylor unit and it's about 3 inches thick:

To add my .02¢ worth, last week, I took my altered out and am half way thru my licensing, this weekend, I'm repairing the crack in the body I got during my blindfold test, stepped in the wrong spot 'cause I couldn't see, fixing a few stress cracks and also getting the body ready for paint.

I built most of mine and if I could do it over, I would get as most done by a builder as possible or buy a used one and modify it as necessary.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it but the amount of forming, shaping and welding tools required are pretty large and expensive and learning to use them properly was time consuming.

Either way, good luck

X4 on the Home Depot hose but just be warned that it's not very flexible.
