hey so I made a quick check on mine for thickness and I didn't screw up.  it is .155 not .100.  Yeah something I don't have to remake.

here is what I bent up by hand.  .100 aluminumn.  hand rolled U with 1" flanges and dzus to the floor.  Torch annealed before I started the shaping to avoid cracks.

So you took T6 aluminum and changed it to "O" (dead soft)condition. Would have been better to have bent the "U" and bolted angle to it in order to keep the T6 heat treat

Just at the 90.  I wouldn't call it dead soft.  I looked at using 1" aluminum angle but by the time it was welded the strength would be the same.    So is there a definition of "securely" or just someone subjective opinion.

that was my thought as well more of a guard than a safety shield.  I would bet 1/2" would be the sfi requirement.

The zoomies are currently bare steel, but for $50 I can have them ceramic coated in Satin Black.

so I picked up a new TCI shield.  looks nice all red and such.  I have the shield bolted to the trans at the servo.  out of  the box only one of the 3 brackets fit with out rebending.  As for the pan bracket it is a no way with out adding and subtracting material.   First issue is the second set of holes for a deep pan are not "long" enough to fit my TCI deep pan (go figure), second it has a hard interference with the shift cable bracket (also TCI).  Sure seems they would have installed at least one of these things as a completed trans and not just a component by component basis.  Any rate question is can I modify the pan bracket, I know I can not touch the top piece with the expense sticker.

thanks for the thought on tilting.  I will give that a look.  I am going to get a tci shield to compare fit with the blanket and get that knocked out over the weekend.  thanks

were you able to maintain the same shaft exit out the side panel?

Just tilt the box a little so that you don't have to mess with the bodywork.

Cardboard is cheap ;D

LOL guess you are right on the cardboard.
