Roo Man's Room / cable thru chassis
« on: April 05, 2020, 03:00:04 PM »
Going to have to ut remote power shut off on car, rules are rules. Would like to run thru upper right part of main hoop dow to fron of motor and to switch which is about 18" foward of motor.

Question is if I weld a tube in hoop just past radius and run cable thru it then exit in front of motor thru upper tube  and place a what ever you call the piece around opening to keep tube from failing.Have brain fart right now. Is that legal? I know spec stops at mid plate just wondering about opening in main hoop with tube welded into it.

Jon's Wheel House / durometer reading on tires
« on: April 05, 2020, 12:53:23 PM »
Was just checking tires on car to see if any change in durometer reading. Got me wondering what reading on other brands are.My M/T are 50 average reading and fairly new run wise. I know few have said they had problem getting wheel speed with Mickeys.Thinking maybe harder compound works better for some.

Anyone who check durometer reading on tires from time to time .Please chime in with info on whats working or not working for you.

Front Engine Dragsters / all loaded up and no place to play
« on: March 24, 2020, 05:14:23 PM »

Some problem will remember a post I had last year about every time I started to head to track something came up.Either weather or a chance to go tune on a blower car.I love working on blower cars and getting few bucks towards FED made it almost no brainier.

Now here I sit with new trailer that is about 1/4 equipped and gaining. Car is ready to rock out and now even has new rods.Last part was just a peace of mind thing since others only had 5 runs, but that 5 runs with 11000 rpm shifts and 52 lb boost.

All loaded up and no place to go play. Really starting to think somebody is telling me.Hey you have cpl weeks now strip it down and find out why you keep running into this wall that's here to protect you from you.

Spud Miller's Cave / nitro mixture with 02 aensor
« on: January 04, 2020, 08:10:49 AM »
Spud,

A question came up cpl days ago in a bench race session. Lot of folks running o2 sensor instead of EGT now days. How does a nitro mixture effect reading and could o2 be used to tune with running nitro?

Spud Miller's Cave / electric primer pump ?
« on: November 06, 2019, 04:03:23 PM »
Ok . I have a facet pump hooked up on injected motor using for primer system. Car cranks fine after little tuning. Use for cranking only right now.

Issue I think I am having is when shutting motor off. I pull fuel shut off, motor revs up as should before shutting o0ff,except it keeps running and running(no batteries here). I am thinking the vacuum maybe pulling fuel thru the electric pump. Pump is about 12" from main line from tank and mounted low so as to keep it wet for easy priming.Line from pump goes to a jetted line that's in middle of injector with 4 spray holes drilled in it that spray up ward and mix with incoming air.

Anyone have issue with fuel being pulled thru pump?

Front Engine Dragsters / stage rpm vs stall and wheel speed
« on: October 28, 2019, 04:37:07 PM »
Anyone have any data on how much quicker wheel speed is or isn't,if you stage lower and give engine a run at tires. In other words let it get running up to stall more should give hard hit in theory which we all know how that works out some times. Its done some in pro mods with auto and thinking it might help get wheel speed up quicker on bracket deal also in case of shake issue.

Spud Miller's Cave / nitro % and motor cleansing
« on: September 25, 2019, 05:28:31 AM »
Spud,

Is it near as critical to cleanse the motor(blow out all fuel when running lower(under 30%)  mixure. Having worked on some A/FUEL CARS i AM USE TO IT BE RELIGIOUS . Complete blow down between rounds of at some local stuff could be trick. Not that I plan on running it often, but it will happen,LOL

Front Engine Dragsters / negatives of FED as bracket car?
« on: July 03, 2019, 06:27:56 PM »
Ok first I know we have had threads about bracket racing a FED. Is it the choice of cookie cutter crowd? No. Is it easiest to get tune up info on,heck no. Is it cool? xxxx yes. Can it be just as consistent as a four link RED? I think so,with proper prep and tuning. Have been told from day one( alot of days between then and now too) a FED is wrong for bracket racing and can not win on anything but a fluke day. Reason I asking here is site is FED's and not a bunch of do as everyone else or you don't have a chance bracket racers only site.Maybe short cut learning curve.Yes I know getting it on track would too.Trying for end of August once heat dies down some, its just not my thing to  play in.

Question what would be the negatives or obstacle with a FED as a kick butt screw the names bracket race car?

Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / stall rpm change with tq change
« on: June 21, 2019, 05:26:15 AM »
Some random thinking got me ot wondering. Is there a rule of thumb for how much stall will increase with x amount of tq increase.

Reason. Wondering how much stall speed wil increase with tq increase from load of nitro. I know ideal would be half dozen converters for each comb, but being rich is ideal too and not working(YET). After few post about tires and needing to get wheel speed I started thinking(usually not good) a little more tq would get more wheel speed if all other approaches failed. Can run numbers on Spuds TQ calculator. Knowing how much stall I might change will help figure where too much is just extra fun.

Front Engine Dragsters / new injector (pics added)

While not as pretty as Racin Jason's  its going to have to do for while. First design was .060 and middle was pulsating while idling .This one is .190 tube with butt load of welding. Still got some polishing to do,but getting close to being finished  Like I said not as pretty as wanted and heavier than would like, but hey its not like anyone else's.LOL

Spud Miller's Cave / pump under drive?
« on: May 05, 2019, 05:54:35 PM »
Spud,

If have apump too big for need. Whats best way to figure under drive ratio. I have cpl old Waterman under drive sitting here  different ratios. I have a 85. gpm pump.Too big for injected alky w/o going either bigger on main than I want or small nozzle and higher pressure. It will work great when I get set up and want to throw a high percentage load to it. Need few other parts first and thats after new trailer. May be have to have two complete systems I can swap from alky to nitro, just checking options and trying to make most versatile with fewest changes possible.
Any rule of thumb for figuring pump out put with under drive.Linear or just totally changes chart characteristics?
