Insanity.... in a very good way!

This is WILD! Your FED looks great. Is that red RED a sidewinder??
-
That RED was built in Norway and bought from Sweden (or was it the other way around?)
It currently has a former ProStockTruck big bore 358 small block Chevy.
It launches off the transbrake at 8k rpm and shifts at over 10k. The sound it makes at the line is unbelievable, pure engine music.
Got a video of it here but the sound unfortunately gets distorted when it hits the chip..

That's awesome! I miss so much when asphalt dragsters would smoke the 1/4 mile. I hate VHT!
Just curious... does the sand track need to be plowed after every pass?
Thanks for the info, pics and vids!

In the fastest classes, every other run during eliminations, every run during the finals.
We have so few built drag cars over here that we run up to three times to declare a winner for each round.
the surface is different for each track and gets different treatment, pictured above is the track in Akureyri which is very loose and lightweight dirt/small-chipped gravel track. Its the only purpose built sand drag track in Iceland.
All our other tracks are on the beach near the ocean. Our beaches contain really heavy medium grit black volcanic sand like this :

Trouble with the beaches here is the enormous tides, the sea level changes rapidly.
Here's our friend testing his 632ci monster on one of the beaches:

Went to the track on Saturday, can you believe it was the first race of the year ???!!! being stuck here at 66°N sucks for racing.
Well anyhow, played it safe, mild timing, low rpm shift, no nitrous and had the time of my life.
Car weighed 1850 with me in it and full ballast. It was happy with 5.25 psi in the rear. started lower but walked over the tire. the sissy stick was about 3.5-4" in the air.
Went 5.910 @ 113.35 in the eighth with a 1.275 60foot. Had a little shake in the front end on the first pass and increased the caster some and got rid of it.
The altered car pictured hit the red, so I got a free pass into the semi's.
More and bigger pictures of the race are here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bb-kristinsson/sets/72157645064574505/

Went out for some N/A asphalt testing last Thursday. Didn't take any pictures myself, but there's always someone with a camera.
The engine is now 377ci and somewhere around 11 in in compression, still fit for kill on nitrous oxide so I didn't expect much naturally aspirated running the zoomies. Ran similar numbers as last time out, regardless of 30 less cubic inches.
Got the new individual port nitrous system installed, and had the body body panels polished up for a local indoor car show. after three or four more car shows it will look awesome...
There's a big sand drag event in August where all the heavy hitters will be, and hopefully I can get it through there safely without engine carnage.

Had a blast last weekend where I pushed the FED into second place.
The little mouse that could took the beating from the 36jet in the fogger, 6 runs in total and even managed to load on the trailer under its own power after the event.
Best ET was 3.674 at 86.37mph

I love sand drags. I have been doing it since 1983. Current home track is Albany Oregon.

That's wild man!

Had a blast this last weekend, at the last race of the season.
Had to retire due to a blown headgasket/lifting head, but still managed second place amongst the bigblock giants.
here are some pictures and two videos.

Holy Crap !!!!!!!!

Some people do extremes to keep their tan ;D
MaggiFinn, I love the stance of that low cage FED, is it yours?
-
Yeah, that one is mine, i finished it 2011 and have been racing since.
I used a collection of pictures from this site as an inspiration and summoned up a bunch of ideas and styles that I liked into this car.
I just measured our open trailer and maxed out the wheelbase to fit it, same with the wheelie bar, with it's wheel off, it perfectly fits above the trailer tongue.
9"ford rear, powerglide and a stock block and crank SBC.
That fireball is from a 400shot of nitrous, preignited from a failing headgasket.
