Hello
I have posted this another forum, and I think this might be interesting for you!?
Just wanted to share some info I got from a friend.
SSAB is soon releasing new type of certified tubes for racing chassis.
As I understad the new type has better characteristics than the current chrome molly. It looks like the price will be abit lower than CM, over here anyway. Maybe the price will be the same for you guys.
The new type is called DOCOL R8.
The tolerances are far better than CM, and it is also easier to work with.
They will be ready to take orders within may this year

Found some more;
Docol Tube R8:
High-strength steel for light and safe designs
Roll-formed tubes with stringent tolerances
Low alloy content offers excellent welding characteristics
High moldability
As of november 5th. SFI has certified them om door cars only, but according to articles they are looking to certify them on all types of racing chassis.

Wonder why it took so long to discover new steel, with all the engineers we have in racing ?

Problem would be getting it allowed by nhra. Guessing SFI will have to approve it and write spec to allow it use.

The one avolved in Sweden, chassis Builder Mats Eriksson, sits in the SFI Tech Board.
