Howdy.
Been 30 years since I played with a carb. I fitted a Holley DP and electric Carter pump running 98 pump gas to my car. I run a dry block. I was unimpressed with how hot it got and how quick it got there. I've sold the carb and have purchased a Methanol Holley from a local speedway racer. Given the increase volume of fuel required (x2.2ish)? using meth I assume my electric pump wont cut it. I have an Enderle 80A-1 belt drive pump what sort of return set up do I need to use to run it and at what sort of pressures or is the pump just too big? Would a regular electric pump do the job? What about a second Carter so I have two pumps going up to the regulator and then a return line? That would be an economical way to go.
Am I barking up the wrong tree?
Cheers

When I first started with the dragster I also ran a alcohol Carburetor for the same reasons (heat).

I ran a electric pump for two seasons running 9.0 in the 1/4
I used a bypass regulator and returned the excess fuel back to the tank

That was years ago so I do not think I could provide model or names of the pump or regulator.
The setup did work fine.
I am currently running a belt drive on my pump for my fuel injection setup

We ran a Aeromotive A2000 and a Bigs Alky carb for years on our 512 Chrysler wedges. Not a cheep pump but works great. I tried the multi small pump thing once and would stay away from that route.

we ran a belt driven pump to an alky carb with a poppet/check valve set at 9psi on a return line just changed to a flying toilet to get a more equal burn as one cylinder always ran hotter.
-
we also used extended jets or jet extensions also a bigger jet in the right rear we could have had a bad manifold never had it flowed

Thanks for your thoughts. I have an Enderle 80A-1 here but can't help think it's just too big at it's rated 7.1 GPM even thought it would be simple enough to set up with a poppet and a pill in the return line. I like Glenn's pic with what looks like a simple 140 GPH pump and regulator but how do I know if it's delivering enough? If I went that way I think I would put the regulator after the carb in a return line to the tank or am I over complicating things. I work with centrifugal wine transfer pumps everyday and know they hate a small suction hose because of cavitation. Most of the style of pumps Glenn has shown have 3/8" fittings - so do they flow enough for methanol? I like the simple electric set up. How do I work out the amount of fuel required? I'm starting to ramble
Cheers

If you have the room, bolts to the stock pump mount.
FF @ 450gph & 50 psi must use their reg to tone it down
designed for carbs, compatible for gas - alky - E85 (with the correct plumbing) about $300 US,

i used reg or poppet with a belt driven pump set at 9psi on alky have used a jet in the return line with a electric pump
