So when you're feeling like " Im never going to get this done".  Were all in this together. Gotta keep moving.

The Cranks here. Took longer then quoted but she's a beauty and I don't feel worthy .

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Glasses fog
« on: September 27, 2016, 10:42:30 AM »

Mount a small 12 volt squirrel  cage fan with a hose attached and the open end pointed at my face.

Use a momentary on push button to turn it on.

When sitting in the staging lanes or when needed before a run push the button to get some air circulation around the glasses to defog them.

While on a run if there ever was a (god for bid) a fire it would be off.

Having problems finding the right fan though.

There are some of what you say over at pegasus also. Seen them .  My self am looking at possibly using  my very small cordless blower I have.
Bought this to cool the converter off. leaving right on golf cart to put on at tow back
Looking at ways to turn car around fast.

Glenn just a thought. But this site could use a general BS section to keep OT stuff. Just a thought.

Three thoughts

1) It is kind of nice not to have general BS, I suspect that monitoring that thread might be a big headache.

You know best Glenn thought it may help but maybe not

2) We have a thread call "Drag Racing"  its sub title states "Please use this Board for topics other than Altereds, FEDs, REDs, or Gassers"

Probably would have been best place for this I guess the drag racing just throws off my little brain

3) What would you call it? Would you be willing to be the Moderator.

I don't have any suggestions Again just a thought don't be mad at me. Im just a princess and wound easy. :'(
I don't know if I could help but will talk to you when I see you.

If there is truly interest I could set up a Board in the Social section

Glenn just thinking what could make it easier for you

I was thinking of weeding out "Bikes" "Door Cars" "Electronics" "Junior Dragsters" "Six Cylinder Drag Vehicles" "Tow Vehicles"

With public interest in Drag racing waining Not so sure how much you could subtract topics. But some of them on the board haven't seen action in quite some time. To be perfectly blunt when you told me about this site back when I got really excited. Its hard finding a common interest on this topic. Where else could you find a collection like this?  I know since this board started I don't ever go looking for this topic at Yellow Bullet, HAMB or others anymore. In fact have not looked at these other boards at all for awhile :)
I believe there is room for this board to grow with like minded people. Theres more front engine dragsters out there not on this board.  We all have to do our part to pass on one of Glenns cards and talk to people we see. One thing I hear when I tell people about this site is " Oh great another board to watch, I don't have time".  It would be a shame to see Roo and spud pull the plug on this site .  Cant imagine they are seeing any ROA for this. So with that I say whole heartedly thank you to Roo , Spud , Glenn, all the others  and all the people on here.

Thoughts?
Just Peace and more nostalgic drag racing. ;)

Lizano-Style Costa Rican Salsa
makes about 2 cups
1-2 dried chiles, such as guajillo
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 small yellow onion
1 4-inch piece thick carrot, chopped
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon unflavored vinegar
1 tablespoon ground cumin
2 teaspoons fine salt
2 teaspoons molasses
2 teaspoons all-natural powdered vegetable broth base, optional

Remove the stems of the chiles and then slice the chiles in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and fibrous connective material attaching the seeds to the chiles. Pre-heat a 6-8-inch cast iron or stainless steel skillet over medium heat. Lay the chile pieces in the pan and toast, turning after about 2 minutes. Add the water and lower the heat to bring the water to a simmer. Simmer for about five minutes. Remove the chile pieces from the pan and place in blender. Measure out 1 cup of the chile-infused water and add this to the blender with the chiles.

Add the onion, carrot, sugar, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, molasses, bouillon if using. Blend until smooth. Taste for seasoning.

Sauce will keep in refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Hello Dean:

Just my stupid opinion from what I have seen and heard with concerns to this along the way.

A big consideration in this equation is you say your running a Glide now (short?). But what down the road you may have to consider is if you decide to go to a clutch or different trans ( on your down the road combo)  and all that wraps around that. Serviceability, Clutch pedal, getting trans out of car without moving engine. etc bla bla bla.

Important also to consider resale of your car. Someone else may have a combination needing the room and or pedal, lever brake mounts. Maybe little things but could mean a sale in these declining drag race times. If thats important to you.

Sounds like your building a car and that leaves you the chance to make the car for you and to consider its new owner when time comes.

make sense? Not the beast at putting thoughts to words. :o
Thanks and shout out to someone I am lucky enough to call friend for working- experiencing issues such as this
Thanks Matt (frontenginedragsters) 8)

Spud Miller's Cave / Re: Barrel Pumps
« on: August 06, 2016, 03:32:54 PM »
Hi Chuck:

Say FWIW think about a barrel turner. I got one for 25 bucks off of Craigslist.
Handy addition for garage and you can still keep a little pump on trailer for emergency.

Also we use pumps like this at work. Thought about buying one for myself. We run nasty chemicals through these and never seen an issue in years of use. Little slower then rotary vane but something to keep in mind with those is the impeller gets stiff and breaks down.
Link for ref only I believe we bought ours through fisher scientific.

Theres always the 3 guy option.......two guys on barrel and one collecting... ;) Don't always spill...... :o ;D

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Throttle cable trouble
« on: July 04, 2016, 11:24:45 AM »
Throttle actuation mechanism is one area I need to improve in my car, so I apologize for the hijack.

Question: When using high quality Morse-type cables (like Control Cable), is it OK to have the cable being pushed when throttle pedal is depressed? Or is pulling it generally preferred?

hey bud:
FWIW.  To add to Bruce you just have to make sure the cable is rated for push.  You can get good info from Midwest control. They have good drawings with info.

Hey thanks Paul and Bruce:
Seems like I remember Bruce or someone talking about this some time ago about heat treating a set. Anyone have personal experience with this?

Bruce is this the place?

Hello friends and hope all are having a great year so far.
Nice to see some new people and cars coming aboard.
So anyway a little update on the Prisoner.
The cam is here.

and a shot of pistons and rods from Venolia

Line honed the block in , thanks to Matt Shaff and Ken Nojay for pointers. Had not used this machine before.

Because of some good OT at work am upping the Crank budget and am deciding between a Bryant or Callies.
So slow but we will keep at it as possible.
Thanks for watching, BCNU
