Title: Head and Neck restraints, what are you using?
Post by: Rodchucker on March 11, 2014, 08:09:53 PM
Hi boy's,
I am looking at buying one but am unsure which one will suit my Spitzer.
I would think what an altered might need would be different to a dragster or door car?
What types are you guy's using and why?
Thanks
Chris

No ,difference. As far as neck, if you can afford get one of the neck restraints. I drove an Altered and just had a good neck collar, but not to thick. I wear the same in my door car.

I'm using a Simpson Pro Rage. It is very lightweight and small compared to the other HANS units. It's size makes it easier to get in and out of a dragster.

Go to the track with your car and ask other racers if you can borrow theirs to see if works for you. We run a Hans, the other ones we tried either were too big to fit through our narrow cage, one kept getting hung up on the belts adj buckle, driver didnt like the strap-on type. New stuff comes out all the time and its an expensive deal. Dont buy used unless its less than a year old and the company is still in business, these things have to be re-certed now ($100) and if they are too old or out of business-your screwed.

Hayden Wheels has just started selling a new neck support system. You can see the Leatt system on our web site Haydenent.com.
The Leatt company has been around for a long time making neck supports for motorcycle racers, but now makes a SFI approved system.
One of the features I like is it has a low back piece, our team's 1'st Hahns was high enough it got caught on the roll cage, also the Leatt has seat harness channels. And it weighs 2 lbs.
Anyway, just call me with any questions, 800-624-3803

Jon I see Leatt makes a new model, I have run three different models my first was an R3 it just didn't fit my car to well and it caught the top of the cage when trying to get out, the second was the first 38.1 Leatt that was really comfortable and I felt it was very safe until I tried to get out of my car I was virtually stuck in the car it would have been great in a door car, and my third is a Dfender it is all right I can get in and out of the car all right.
