Title: Cube vs K style BV on injection setup?
Post by: wideopen231 on June 09, 2018, 11:10:18 AM
Ok new set for FED has aKstyle BV with injection. Normally I have run cube style with injection and K style with blower. Issue I am having is BV leakage lot lower than I would expect 20% vs 28 to 32%. Nozzle sizing seems to be wanting smaller in order to keep main in are I like to run mine at.

My thoughts are. K style has better flow less restrictive. SO need to flow less to get same fuel at idle. Although it would seem leakage is leakage thru BV.
Less pressure drop means nozzles are seeing more pressure and glowing more fuel than would if had more restrictive BV.

Question is. Are thoughts on right path or out looking for left field and something else I am missing

  Pump is 6.85 gpm dsr
BV K style with spool from blown alky
nozzles are.020 hats and .028 ports equal to .035 or so flow wise.
 Main is 125
bypass is .050 after not building heat with just main

SPud, Difference in blower spool and tunnel ram spool? For a K style BV.

would really like to know the difference in blower spool and tunnel ram spool as well. i just see nobody answered... have you found an answer yourself and can update? please? thanks! Basic & Comforting Instant Pot Minestrone (https://delicerecipes.com/basic-comforting-instant-pot-minestrone/)

Yes and no.LOL  Difference is back where it shuts off outlet is little bigger on tunnel ram spool.V notch is wider and blends in over and down from top. My guess is because of smaller leakage rat 25 to 30 vs 65  to 75%. Also bypass hole in blower spool that feeds main jet is not in tunnel ram spool. There is passage at main inlet that also feed main jet. My guess is allows more bypass fuel(bigger pump w/blower) while throwing more fuel at hit to motor since blower will pretty much take what you throw at it at that moment.

Stay tune for question on no hole in spool for main.

There is a pic of the two next to each other on the FIE webstore:

A is supercharged (slot goes all the way through), B is naturally aspirated (progressively deep V groove).

If your barrel valve leakdown percentage is lower than you'd expect, it's probably because your idle (main) check valve pressure is too high. For the most part, the following works well to start with...

Supercharged: 7-10 PSI idle check valve, 70-75% leakdown
Naturally aspirated: 1-2 PSI main check valve, leakdown at 7% of the engine size in cubic inches. ie. 350 * .07 = 24%
