Spud Miller's Cave / Stack injection and bracket racing
« on: February 05, 2016, 03:40:48 PM »
I've been thinking of using mechanical injection on my FED, but it will be used mostly as a bracket car. 511 BBC with a glide.  I have some experience with an enderle bird on a blower, but I have never dealt with any of the stack setups. Is it possible to get them to run consistent enough to bracket race without being driven insane along the way? And what would be the best to try, hilborn, kinsler or something else?

Cool deal. I haven't been on this site very long, but there's some really helpful people here.

He told me that too, but not sure I believe him. I hope it works out for you, it would make a cool old car.

I drove about 16hrs round trip to look at that chassis. The first thing you'd better do is get a tech inspector to look at it. From what I could tell the tubing was all way too thin and it has been brazed together, so not sure if it can ever be made to pass tech again

That is great to know, I'll have to send mine in for re-cert. I was afraid I was going to have to buy new.

I'm thinking 33" on the rear tires. It's going to most likely get a carb until I get things sorted out, then switch to stacks. This engine is going together with leftover parts from my funny car  and thanks to that I'm kinda stuck with the compression ratio without spending money on another set of custom pistons. I learned all the lessons on keeping things clean with the funny car. That thing drove me crazy when I first when blown/injected

Hi, new guy here. I just bought a chassis from David Beard and I'm starting to gather parts for the build. I'm using what I had around for as much of it as possible. The engine is going to be a 511bbc, 4.375 bore x 4.250 stroke. Tall deck truck block. Ported cheapo pro-line heads. I'll be doing mostly 1/8 mile racing in my area. Looking for some cam and gear suggestions. I've drag raced off and on for years, but this is my first time running anything this lightweight. Thanks for any input
