Yea setting car up for two chutes.Figure with brackets if being rushed I can drop one and still have one.Future ideas would require two anyway  and one ____.____._____.____  chute body is enough for while.Think Bourbon cost is gaining on aluminum cost and may be getting ahead. As can see stil got to get rear cage part that suits me. Hey we are not all Rooman,my hats off to him if I can get it out of ceiling from blowing off few hundred times. Actually the learning curve maybe steep but its flattening out all the time. If it was simple I wouldn't want to build it.

Roo Man's Room / shaping lexan
« on: October 29, 2013, 09:59:12 PM »
Looking for best way to shape lexan.  making windscreen for new car and going for something real clost to modern fuel car windshield.Stretched out and layed way back. Going to need to shape corners to almost 90* radius maybe 80 or so.Cowl can be shaped to match.Have already doen it once but going to have to remove lots of material so thats not big deal.

Thought I had the cowl ready for wind screen.Nope change mind and need to open up more towards front.Aiming for modern top fuel look kind of like Shawn Langdon and few others. Real layed back and stretched way out.

Good part is it means removing more material ,always easier then filling back in. Guess this is bad part to drugout build.Too much time to rethink. Also redoing dash. Going to 3 side kind of like jet cockpit.

Roo Man's Room / Re: looking for a "once over" on the chassis

Glen, thats a good idea, thw cable/wire chases. I think I will put a few in the upright. As far as the bar below the forward cage loop,is that bar required for a 7.50 and slower car?
  Thanks guys,
                   Roger

Roo Man's design

Not sure Roo Man takes the credit for the creation, I'm just crediting the person that introduced me to the idea.

I think it goes back a long ways and not sure who did it first. Now if Rooman wants credit for something that old who am I to argue. :)

Our first funnycar built in early 80's had them and Im pretty sure Winston Cherry was not first either.

Roo Man's Room / Re: Transmission Tunnel
« on: October 23, 2013, 01:15:33 PM »
How does transmission tunnel have effect on fire comeing in past windshield? Firesuit is just that FIRE suit it will not stop steel drive shaft or transmission granading. Beiieve me as the HATER of heat(above 60*) I hate my suit when its hot out but love it when the heat turns to flames.

Got few things done today. Well one finished, love that word. What I call the bread box, adapter for injection to the tunnel ram.Finished cpl welds on tunnel ram and made top plate and got the bread box welded up.Then frilled and tapped it for bolts to hold injector.

Got Oil pan cutout and bent up.Made the pan rail and got pan tacked to it in few places, little more than tacked in others.Man its hard to stop a weld run its running good especailly aluminum.
