Thankyou. Good logic on the flex vs crack too.

Cheers,

Front Engine Dragsters / Chassis - paint, powdercoat or POR?

Getting closer to having the FED together. Looking to put some form of protection over the chassis, but not sure whether to have a panel shop paint it, a shop to powdercoat or to DIY it myself with POR chassis coating.

Needs to be neat and tidy and presentable, but not show-car perfect (as an example, my panels are painted in purple metalflake, but not on the inside). Prefer something that I can touch up later if I damage it or need to ad a bracket tab.

Appreciate your experiences please.

Cheers,
Harv

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: shifter choice and location

Precision Performance Kwik-Shift II shifting a 'glide. Tab mounted to the chassis, body adjacent to my left knee (Aussie car, shifter on the left). It meets the local IHRA requirements, and lets me one-handed overcome to reverse lockout (important to me as I have a hand operated brake that leaves me one-handed for shifting).

Would have preferred a Frameworks shifter but they are like rockinghorse crap to find.

The other excellent Source on this subject is Bob Szabo , long time close friend of mine and racer.

Bob has written a pretty good book on exactly what you are trying to do - take a fairly successful combination and then squeeze a few more ponies out of it by tipping the can:

I'd suggest starting by reading Spud's notes here: http://onehotchilipepper.com/nitro/ and then buy Bob's book.
