Title: Enclosed body?
Post by: 421Altered on July 02, 2017, 07:56:04 AM
I have a 125in altered with a 421sbc with a enderle hat system. Best time so far 5.09@134.  From the front of the engine forward is completely open, with a laydown radiator, trans cooler, and alum 4 gal fuel tank in the very front.  My question, if I enclosed that and put a nose on the car, how much better et and mph could I expect?

My opinion for what it is worth is any small gains made with aerodynamics would be offset by the weight gain especially in the 1/8 mile.

Are you burning alky ? If so, why do you feel you need a radiator, alky burns better [ more HP] with higher engine temps.
I run at least 180° at launch and 200-220° at turn off, in my all iron SBC, with water. We have found running water in the block & heads makes about 20 hp more on the dyno.

Thanks Curly!  Jr. Fuel, do you circulate the water, or just block the ports off?
