I have a Dedenbear SS2 shifter solenoid I would like to use with a Vertex internal coil Mag with mechanical tach drive. Dedenbear used to offer a Pulse Generator PG8 that connected to the cable drive on the mag and connected to the solenoid shifter but is no longer available. What are any other options to set up a solenoid shifter using a mechanical tach drive? Thanks.

A button on your steering wheel. Not sure you’ll can get a clean signal from a Vertex mag to activate the shifter

I don't want to activate it manually with a button. I would like it to self shift at a set rpm. Thanks

IMO the MSD magneto makes the electronics so easy. We have ran the MSD12LT for 8 years with a 2 step, rpm shifter and rev control. Very dependable and have a rpm playback.

msd magneto rpm activated switch should do what you want. Just pick rpm chip you want.

Not with a Vertex mag

FIE, a sponsor here, makes a sensor that attaches to the Vertex mag cap and sends a signal to a tach pulse generator, https://fuelinjectionent.myshopify.com/collections/rpm-timing-related/products/tach-pulse-generator?variant=26288696208 (https://fuelinjectionent.myshopify.com/collections/rpm-timing-related/products/tach-pulse-generator?variant=26288696208)
Don't know what class you plan on running but check the rule book, in my class, that is not allowed hence the button on the steering wheel as stated by others.

From what I am seeing the tach pulse generator will activate a shift light but is not strong enough to activate s shifter solenoid.

I'm not using the pulse generator for auto shifting but if I did, I would use a relay.

Yes, use a relay with that and you can do anything. Here's our new relay with socket:

The tach pulse generator won't activate anything...it only makes a tach signal. You need something receiving that signal to make the RPM decision. The MSD RPM Activated switch (#8950) works great for that.
You could also use a crank trigger pickup to feed the RPM activated switch a speed signal. A crank trigger puts out a nice, reliable signal. Better than converters or pulse generator boxes.

Thanks all for the feedback..
