Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Zoomie pipes wanted

If you can use 1-3/4 I made mine from this speedway kit. A lot cheaper than ready made. (If on a budget).

You could probably sell the flanges.

I use a Canadian tire motorcycle jack. (i'm sure harbor freight  has something similar)
I drive it into the garage, slide it under the back and jack it up. There cheap when on sale.

Front Engine Dragsters / best nostalgia event for holiday.
« on: April 15, 2018, 12:15:29 PM »
Hello fedders!
I'm looking at saving up for a holiday with my son(he will be 20) next year and would like opinions on the best meet to see.
Eg. march meet, bowling green, etc. not sure if driving or flying to said meet (i'm up in Alberta Canada)
As the age of drivers is getting up there, we would like to meet some before its too late.
Thanks for your input!

Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / Re: powerglide buzz/vibration

update!
I had one of the best powerglide fellows around have a look inside the trans last week. All he could see was the spring for the parking pawl was broken on the end which rests against the case. it was sticking in the case rubbing on the drum. in neutral and park, the drum rotates until either the band or clutches engage to hold it in place. That made a buzzing sound/vibration as it was scraping against the drum.
Once i get it back in and able to test, ill get back and report. hopefully that was the problem.
cross fingers and toes..... minor issue!

Going through the trans and engine. Glide good. Sbc Engine not so much. Found out the fellow(i'll use that loosely) i bought it from put 10 thou bearings on a 20 thou crank. Right on the crank its stamped 10 mains and 20 throws. He used 10 bearings on both. 3 bearings were starting to turn! the little tabs were pounded out and starting to rotate. Glad i took it apart. machining done and good to go lol. besides that, just trying to stay warm ha ha. -25c here the last week(-4f) without the wind chill. anyways merry xmas everyone!

Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / powerglide buzz/vibration
« on: October 13, 2016, 07:24:44 PM »
Hi Fedders!
I have a fed with a mild 355. low 9's.
now i went through the trans at the beginning of the year and changed converters as i thought it might be that but it still makes a bad vibration/buzz in neutral and park. if i put it in low/drive it goes away. its a jw case, shorty, etc. doing some research online and could it maybe be the planetaries vibrating as it freewheels?
Ideas on what to look for?
Thanks.

Your Builds / Photo Gallery / 3rd weekend of racing
« on: August 04, 2016, 09:10:33 PM »
First off thanks to the people on this site with the answers to my questions and info to get this digger going!
The rail is going low 9's at 145 - 150. I went 5 rounds on Saturday. There was 60 cars in the pro class. Sunday i beat the opponent at the tree but lost with a double breakout!
Having a blast with the new toy. Gets lots of looks and compliments.

Hello Fedders! The rail is running great at 8 psi. Going through it, i noticed one tire looks like it is separating and one is starting. Has anyone seen this before? I have the date code on the tires= 50TZM855 maybe one can figure it out. Anyways i think i might need some rears lol! We have one 1/8 mile race weekend then a big one in Saskatoon. 50th anniversary. should be a full house there.
Barry.

UPDATE!
I tried the pressure at 7psi  and it just dead hooked and sent me crooked towards the tree! yikes lol. tried it again and it did the same. so for the third qualifying pass, i put it back to 8psi and it went straight. left it there and went 2 rounds on Saturday and 3 rounds on Sunday! It was a steady 9.4's at 145 all weekend after that. Now i just need to find the sweet spot on the tree.

33-12-15 d2623 Goodyear's on a 12 inch rim at about 8 psi. That's what came with the fed.
