Today i got the engine running in the dragster! 2 1/2 years after buying the car its finally running. It has fought us every step of the way but now it is (for the most part) done. Still lots to do but i feel relieved that it could race after a few more hours of work. When we had issues I found answers to most of my questions in the posts here so Thank You to all of for your help. Big thanks to Spud too for his help too. Oh how i have missed the smell of burning alcohol!

Yes, we go every year. Hopefully we won't spend too much money window shopping! We drive up from KC and make a weekend of it. Agree, its is the best place to meet the vendors , see new product and ask questions.

I spent the money and did just as DRE suggested. Just make sure to get the measurement for the shaft correct and MW enterprises will sell it all to you. Well worth the money for this set up.

OK one more just because I am getting excited!

By the way thanks Spud for all the help and pieces to get this thing rolling. And yes we did weld the inside of the header flange. I could stand on them before but better safe than sorry. ;D

I've heard that mounting the poppet valves "hard" to the pump will allow vibrations to unseat the poppets and cause problems during a run. I've included a pic of what I currently have set up for my high speed and main. Should I change it to where they both are mounted by flexible lines?
This set up looks ok and was fairly easy to plumb but I will change it if there could be issues.

Got my new Zoomies today. Stahl pattern headers for B/ND class FED. Made from 2" tubes (steel) with 6" radius U bends and real Stahl mild steel (hot roll) flanges heavily modified. I will be using the Dynotech aluminum adapter plates to mount them to the heads.  Probably way overkill on the tube size considering the exhaust port size of the heads but they look fast! Nice job by Bill P. in Ottawa Ks making these. Covers too!

Spud, I need to call you this week and buy a fuel pump, high speed and main jet for my Hilborn 2 7/16 8 stack set up. What do you need to know to sell me the correct pump?
What is the best time to call you? Thanks!

Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / Re: Doug Nash 3+1 trans
« on: August 10, 2015, 05:13:09 PM »
I had one in my '67 camaro (502 and lakewood can). The scattershield had the bolt pattern already there. The trans bolted right up but getting the throw out brng right was a bit of a pain with the centerforce clutch. Needed a long(tall) brng to reach the fingers of the pressure plate.  The pattern may have been toploader (Ford) but I don't recall.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Front Tires
« on: July 11, 2015, 09:26:29 AM »
I got a new set of Hoosiers (just like the Goodyears) on my wire rims but had to have it done at a Motorcycle shop. He said it was a tough job even with his machine. Properly seating the beads was not easy and took time. The Hoosiers have a rib on the sidewall close to the bead so when it was even all the way around the wheel we knew we had it on properly. Once again it was not easy but we got it done.
Next year I want new front wheels, tires and spindles. just because....

The deals are out there and happen all the time. Have a pile of money saved up and get a better value. Building a car is a long term proposition. If you really want to learn race fabrication then (by all means) build. If you want to go to the track and race buy a complete used roller that only requires a powertrain or engine.
Sometimes the fabrication provides a way for you and your friends to become better acquainted and grow closer. I made better, closer and even some new friends building a car. It just takes a long time if you have the traditional responsibilities in your life. Good Luck!
