Randy As far as the converter goes you could send one out to a coverter guy and have it set up for your car . Those 10.5 tires might be too aggresive for your car but if you already have them why not try them.what we have found with my car is you need a little wheel speed or tire slip not a dead hook .Most of the newer FED's are being built with the motor a little further out . When Frank built my car in 2003 we put th motor out only 36 inches and it work's ok but it took a lot of effort to get things balanced out .You did not mention how much power your motor will make or how many rpm's it will turn but if you go on Mark William's web site they have an on line gear ratio calculator . This will  get you close .

There is a guy here in division 1 who runs a 632 in a fed in Top Dragster . He has run some 7.1's with it and is still working out the bug's . Good luck it should be fast.

Spud Miller's Cave / Re: Taller gears for nitro?
« on: February 10, 2013, 02:23:51 PM »
Hi Spud I was reading your post about the gear ratio and that you use a 1.69 low gear . I run an injected small block that we spray with nitrous . Our cars are similar in weight and horse power I have gone 6.94 at 192 with mine . I use a 12x33 tire . I have been thinking about going to the 1.69 low gear from a 1.80 to help controll my wheel speed . Right now I bring the nitrous in at .2 but I would like to bring it in earlier without it blowing the tires off or shaking . Did the low gear help ? Thanks Bill Masiello

Matt thank's for the quick reply . I forgot to mention that these are the .937 keyway lifters . I don't think that Crower makes one so I think that I am limited to the Jessel or Isky and the Jessel's are just so much money . Randy yes we are going to run a few Top Dragster races this year . It's kind of fun to show up at these races with a small block F.E.D. and out qualify some of those mega cube big block's

This is Wayne Hofmann son of funny car racer Al Hofmann . This car runs 6.30's at 214mph

This is my son Bj's top dragster we are working on a new shortblock going to be a 572 . Also putting a second stage of nitrous on it . Hope to run 6.50's with it

Matt what do you think about the new Isky red zone lifters ? I broke a lifter last year a Jessel but they were very old . I am going to replace all of my lifters this year and I like the idea of no needle bearings . Thanks  Bill Masiello

A wheelie bar has become a very important part of an FED . I would never even think about leaving mine off although it is tempting to loose the weight of the bar .

Roo Man's Room / Re: FED Steering question?
« on: February 03, 2013, 08:06:46 AM »
Seem's to me that it would be an awful lot of work to make a rack work on a FED . As far as the ratio goes you can change it by going to longer or shorter steering arms .
