tcoupekyle IS RIGHT! You should feel the convertor i have used 9.5, 8 , and 7" convertors and you feel the engagement if it's too tight you can't get a proper idle

without being there it's hard to analyse, type f trans fluid is what you should use.clutch clearance should be on the loose side. band adjustment is very important every 6 runs.should feel 1st engage just as you would a street car

since the late 60's I've always primed the oil system either removing the dist. and using a mechanical adapter and drill or air over oil system that way you don't have any moving parts that might be dry.

nice going! there are no silly question you just have to filter the answers. you should not have any problems looks similar to our car the first time out. make sure you purge the air out of the cooling system, it has to be vented at the intake any time the rad is lower than the intake.

I use JE or wiseco had custom pistons made for various projectsthe last one were for a 1947  el knucklehead because El was a 61 cubic inch short stroke instead of a standard 74 and used shovelhead cylinders bigger bore. for more standard stuff the turn around time was good and the specs were spot on

i use to build alot more motors for myself and others everything from flathead harley's to blown big block chevies and hemi's had the machine work farmed out, I've slowed down now and just do street stuff, and do transmissions, diff's built cars from rollers to turn key, one winter built 5 cars 3 rollers and 2 turn key. now I'm working on a 371 olds with 6 carbs and a 350 with 2x4 intake for street rods at 75 i'm taking it easy.
