Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / Powerglide transbrake issue
« on: October 12, 2016, 06:54:32 AM »
I have an issue with my transbrake, i have 200 lbs pressure at the servo cover at idle.  Transbrake engages, pressure drops but only returns to 100 lbs.  Transbrake doesn't hold when i get on the converter(rolls forward) and then sticks, i need to rap the throttle a couple times to get it to release!

Any ideas? Valve body? Reverse apply piston?

Help!

Thanks

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: wheels, screws and liners

I hear some radial guys are gluing tires to the wheels, any idea what they are using?

Maybe try glue and mark the tire?

Thinking in "nostalgia mode" i should just soften the launch anyway.

Thanks for the replies, i think maybe going with the 5 screws just to be on the safer side might be the plan.

I'll keep researching liners to see if that's an option.

Thanks

Front Engine Dragsters / wheels, screws and liners

I am looking at taking the Beadlocks and wide tires off my FED.

I want to use a old style slotted mag(Ansen?) and a smaller 11.5 or 12" wide tire.  My concern is the wheel rotating on the tire.  The car 60' foots in the 1.0's, its just over 1800lbs.

I don't want to use rim screws, is their an inner liner available that i could use? (15" diameter wheels).

Should i just go tubeless and not worry about it?

Any other idea's?

Thanks

Roo Man's Room / Re: Relocating puke tank
« on: May 12, 2015, 07:31:01 PM »
Thanks for the replies, maybe i should just consider reducing the size of the tank and keeping it up front.  With the small amount of liquid collecting, a quart or one and a half quarts capacity would probably do.  My car was originally built for fuel, so the puke can about 2 gallons now.

Thanks again.

I was thinking of moving my breather tank to the rear of the car.  I was wanting to run it through the frame rails.  Upper ? Lower? Do I need to block off the portions that aren't being used in routing?  Should i be adding a provision for a drain at a low point in the frame?
Then the choice, just a length of tube and slide a hose over it?  or weld on a threaded bung for an AN fitting?

Thanks

Well it almost snowed but we made it out!

A little testing before next year.

Car went 5.03 to the 1/8th with a 1.11 60'!

It was fun driving a FED again!  Time to turn the boost up, only had 7.5 lbs(15 under/6.71)

Heres the link to the run on youtube:
