Front Engine Dragsters / Enderle Fuel Filter with shutoff - pros/cons?
« on: March 09, 2015, 12:32:28 PM »
I'm in the process of getting the remaining pieces I need for my injection set up. I've mentioned this before, but the dragster I'm building is more for my own enjoyment rather than to be really competitive - the goal has always been to try to build something as close as possible to period while still meeting the safety requirements. I was looking on the alkydigger site, and noticed that Enderle still makes two of the old style fuel filters - one with a shut off vale, and one without. If I get the one with the shutoff valve, I'm assuming it would be used in lieu of a shut off on the pump.

Is there a downside to using this set up and having the shut off on the feed side of the pump rather than the pressure side? Or would this filter actually be mounted on the pressure side of the pump?

Thanks!

Wanted to buy / WTB used, but clean complete chute setup
« on: March 01, 2014, 09:31:11 PM »
Looking for a used, but usable chute for my dragster project. Building an injected dragster that has the 1963 look as close as possible, but meeting current safety standards in order to make runs. Because of this, would prefer silver bag for period 60's look, but black bag works as well. Deist, Simpson, or Chute Metal A+.

Thanks,

Front Engine Dragsters / Rules on the seat pan in an FED?
« on: February 18, 2014, 09:23:48 AM »
Hi All-

I was wondering if there are any rules that state the seat pan needs to be mounted completely flush with the frame rails? The reason I ask is because with the layout of my dragster, my calves rest on the axle, rather than the crook of my knee, which complicates mounting pedals. What I was hoping to do is move the seat bottom forward 4 inches. This would put me in a slightly more reclining position, but my legs would line up correctly. The top of the seat would still be flush to the top rail, and the bottom would still be flush to the bottom rail at the sides, just not the rear.

If this is not allowed, then perhaps I can build an aluminum insert welded inside the seat pan that will accomplish the same thing.

Thanks for your time,
Dean

I just bought a used, but clean long powerglide from a Super Comp racer. I originally thought converting it to a shorty (which is what I need) would be straightforward and not particularly expensive, but it's more than I thought. Would be happy to trade this trans for the short version I need. Another option would be to trade the full length planetary/output shaft and tail housing for a short one. I'm in Sacramento, CA.

Thanks,
