Dan I have a couple of of Chrysler 727 cases with stripped threads for the pump . I plan on doing all of the pump bolts because they come apart quite often for gear changes . Do you think a fine thread or a coarse thread will give me better results with the aluminum case ? Also thinking about using studs instead of bolts . Thanks Bill !

When I repair pump bolt holes, I use the standard thread. I'm not a big fan of studs in the pump area, as it makes it hard to remove the pump for sevice and makes it hard to clean the pump gasket when it is stuck to the case.

You should use timeserts instead of helicoils, they course thread into case and have a choice of internal threads

Just looked up the timeserts on google . They look like they would be better than the heli coil and they come in different lengths ! Thanks

Be sure to check the the size of the thread bosses, as a timesert requires a larger hole than a helicoil.
