Title: Burn Out
Post by: BK on November 24, 2016, 06:33:41 AM
I saw this covered a couple times but I didn't see your thoughts on burn outs.
Seems majority favors 2nd gear burnouts. I was told that is tough on 2nd gear and to start in 1st and hit second as soon as tires start spinning.
Can we get your thoughts?

Yea Dan I have had same question--I started doing them in first and have recently started in high gear which works way better--I did not like shifting during the burn out--hard enough trying not to run over the mop man LOL

Reason for 2nd gear  burnout is imply more tire speed quicker. No harm to trans.Actually probably easier on parts.

As long as your tires are wet before you hit the throttle, not IN the water box, just a lttle out of the water.

Sorry for the late answer, I was off the grid on a short vacation for the holiday weekend. If you are doing a burnout with a line lock, then low to high is my suggestion, with a quick shift to high. If you do a rolling or standing with no line lock then high is the way. These are the methods my son and I use with our cars, The Camaro the first method and the Roadster with the second. No matter which you use the key is to have the rpms high enough to stay up in the converter. I see alot of guys hit the tires and drive thur the converter on the burn out. This is hard on the converter.
