Title: TCI TRANSBARKE QUESTION--GASKETS

I am gathering parts for a spare race glide--I got a nice older TCI brake--sportsman style in great shape as guy wanted Pro brake--question: does it use special valve body gaskets or can I use ones in std kit--I have plenty of std gaskets--did not want to order if I did not need --it had been run without any so no older ones to go by  Thanks!!!!

I had a similar problem with a valve body. I was told to make sure there was an openings in the gasket for every openings in the separator plate. Extra holes are OK as long as they cant bleed into others. Followed those instructions and it worked out fine.

Rule of thumb is "if it is a steel seperator plate, gaskets are a must, if it aluminum they are not needed. If you do use gaskets the above info is spot on! I do not use gaskets in the valvebodies I build.

An explanation as to why no gaskets are needed with aluminum. The softer aluminum will compress when the valve body is tightened, conforming to the slight irregularities in the casting surface. Steel just does not do this.
