Door Cars / Roll cage rules for door slammer 79 camaro.
« on: July 17, 2017, 08:54:41 AM »
Trying to help with a 79 camaro that needs a little tlc. The gal that owns it just wants to test and tune with it but like all things it should be safe.  It's a blown alcohol injected BBC so it should be pretty quick.  But problem is the driver is 5 ft tall and the seat had to be moved roughly 18 inches away from the main hoop.
It has the pretty standard 8 point cage.
What would y'all do to make this thing safe/certifiable for this tiny driver?

Front Engine Dragsters / Anybody know what these plates are for?
« on: June 05, 2017, 11:27:18 AM »
There are 2 plates welded to the bottom on the car about even with the axle centerline.  Hi, I've shared 1 photo via Photobucket for Samsung. Please click the link to view photos: http://share.photobucket.com/shareprofile/indexshare.php?id=ODM1NzM=

Front Engine Dragsters / Welding machine
« on: May 15, 2016, 07:26:16 PM »
I started to get to a hold up and was thinking the right direction to go to keep my build making progress is to buy a  TIG machine. I've never tig welded before, but thought maybe I could tack the pieces I need on and then take the car to a welder friend who could actually finish weld everything. I'm pretty proficient with MIG and arc figured I could figure tig out enough to tack and it's mostly miscellaneous tabs and dzus brackets etc not really structural stuff. It's easier for me to get a friend to weld for 12 hours than it is to get them to help fab tack and weld stuff a little at a time.
Wondering what machine you guys would recommend. Trying to keep the price down and going to try to look for a used machine or is that a no no? Any input is as always very appreciated.

Front Engine Dragsters / Coupler questions
« on: October 14, 2015, 07:36:23 AM »
We mocked up the motor and trans in my dragster.  Now I'm completely lost on what to do about a Coupler. Running a shorty glide and a 9 inch the nine inch had the female side on it but I'm roughly 14 inches from the glide output to the 9 inch input.  Somebody school me on what to do,  please.

Front Engine Dragsters / lyndwood dragster
« on: February 15, 2015, 06:18:57 PM »
I'm pulling the trigger on this thread a little early but,  a friend of mine is Looking at trading his car for a lyndwood dragster.
At this point he doesn't know much about the dragster but is curious to know if there was a way it could be certified and actually raced. Any opinions? It's 112 inch wheelbase but that's about all we know at this point.

Your Builds / Photo Gallery / Introducing my new project.
« on: December 05, 2014, 09:04:30 AM »
After much hunting and debating etc etc... I finally found a pretty solid project for my "dragster dreams". I been trolling this forum and I thought I introduce myself and put up a few pictures of my fed. I decided I had to have one after my friends and I put a new motor in Tony Lee's Fed. So here goes...
