Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / SBC blower intake manifold... Don't fit. Help!
« on: December 26, 2021, 04:43:10 PM »
So I went to place the intake on my long block I finally got together. And the edges of the intake hit the little area where the valve cover seals. Anybody ran into this?

Thanks

Tow Vehicles / Dynastar trailer, new trucks and other questions.
« on: October 21, 2021, 08:03:03 PM »
So I have an 84 dynastar.  I like it. But I got a predicament. My gf don’t like her little suv and now she wants an F250 I’ve already got a f250 (gas 6.2) I tow with and I like it but was thinking a diesel might do it better, especially if we decided to race out west.  so I’ve been contemplating buying her a newer truck 2019 or newer with a diesel and use it sometimes to pull the trailer.
Is this doable I vaguely remember someone saying something about the bed height on the new trucks don’t work with the old trailers.
Also anybody know any info on the dynastar? Seems like a good trailer but it might need axles and brakes, trim, paint etc etc etc

Front Engine Dragsters / Fuel tank, leaks
« on: September 26, 2021, 04:00:41 PM »
So I been having a leak in my fuel tank. I thought it was just from the breather at first but appears to be seeping from a weld. Should I have the tank welded? Or is there a magic chemical solution now?
I polished said tank today too.

Front Engine Dragsters / Heritage race in Tulsa
« on: September 19, 2021, 07:35:45 AM »
Went to the heritage race in Tulsa Friday and Saturday and got to say for a small show it was really good to get out to the drags.
Definitely made me get excited. Hahaha made me want to start building a NTF motor. Hahaha

I had to leave early Saturday to fly back to Houston. Anybody know if there's somewhere I could see the results or some coverage of the event?

I have got all the pieces to this little puzzle, but I am concerned... how do you guys go about clearancing the rods so they do not hit the camshaft.
SBC standard cam height Little M Dart Block
3.75 Stroke Howards Billet Crankshaft
6'' Lightening  Aluminum rods
Crower Small Base Circle Camshaft

I have put the crank and the cam in, timing chain and Rods 1, 2.
Rod 1 hits the block a little in the pan rail area. No Big deal, a grinder will take care of that no problem.
But Rod 1 and Rod 2 Both hit the cam lobes. (just for fun, I retarded and advanced the cam and it makes contact in any position)

My thinking is to coat the cam lobes with grease.
Rotate until contact, roll the crank back off the cam and mark rod with sharpie. then go to the belt sander and take some off.  Re-assemble and check for clearance. If not enough, repeat until 0.60 clearance is obtained.
Any better ideas? Advice? etc?
Thanks

Front Engine Dragsters / Summers brothers gear drive
« on: August 28, 2021, 06:39:23 AM »
I believe it was DRERACECAR that mentioned a Summers brothers gear drive.
Now I'm curious and want to know if it will work with a enderle timing cover and pump drive?
Anyone?
Thanks

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Rod piston issue SBC
« on: June 27, 2021, 04:39:01 PM »
Sooo the wrist pins won’t fit through the rods because the top of the Rod hits the bottom of the pistons.
This is a problem lol
So moving forward. How does one go about remedying this?
It’s a 434 with 6” aluminum rod and an off the shelf je piston.

Wanted to buy / SBC Mag

I'm kinda, maybe, might be looking around a little for a mag for a blown alcohol SBC. Maybe if someone got one for the right price I'd really consider it. Lol

Think the title says it. If you run water how are you doing it. This question has been bouncing around in my mind today.

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / 434 sbc build
« on: January 18, 2021, 06:32:07 AM »
As things progress in this budget build I’m putting together of a plethora of used parts I have questions.
Primarily about piston choice. The other questions are more of a side note at this point I suppose.
What I have is.
AFR 227/235 65cc chamber 23* heads
Dart little m block- I was told it’s zero decked. Came with Ross 18* Piston’s
4 inch stroke eagle crank
6” eagle H beam rod
What piston should I run? I also have....
8/71 blower and enderle injection
Plan to run on alcohol. In FED 1500ish lbs
Just wanna go relatively fast, relatively cheap. But trying to balance reliability in there somewhere too. Weighing the options. But I do need a piston for this combo.
Any advice, recommendation? Any off the shelf options? I’m hearing stay under 11:1 with the blower?

Also, I have a set of Zoomies with what appears to be stahl pattern but the center tubes, seem like they are upside down the bolt in the center is on top. Can I just flip over a normal adapter?
All this being said any recommendation on a cam choice?

Spud Miller's Cave / Injection recommendation??
« on: January 12, 2021, 12:55:25 PM »
I been starting to build a small block. Got an insane good deal on a 434 short block. But the choices come now. I have a dyers 6/71 nothing too special there.
But what cam? What compression? What head?
And the biggest question what enderle injection?
Was thinking 12 to 1? No idea on cam and was thinking bug catcher but I really have no idea... Any input? I'm sure this been asked again and again but well... Here I am

Is there any way to drill a motor plate to a different pattern without starting from scratch? What about bbf to Chevy trans? Any ideas?
