Title: Great news for the High Plains!
Post by: Mr Froggy on January 30, 2017, 12:05:19 PM
There is going to be a new Dragstrip in western Iowa! The town of Onawa, Iowa has the financing to start building a Dragstrip this spring.  The project started a couple years ago after the city airport shutdown.  At first they had 3 investors but when the time came 2 of them backed out.  This past week they announced they have the money needed to go ahead.  The nice thing about it is the towns people, City hall and the county are behind it 100%.  As a matter of fact one of the guys who got the ball rolling is a councilman and a non racer but thought it would be a great use for the old airstrip!  Onawa is about an hour north of Omaha, Nebraska right off I-29. I know this probably doesn't affect most of the members hear but its always good news to have a strip being built rather than shutdown.

With drag strips closing or the treat of them closing, this is excellent news. Its even better with the city behind it.

Glad to hear you have local support. That's worth as much as the money (most the time!) Best of success to all involved.

700 miles northwest of me... but this can't be more true:

"... its always good news to have a strip being built rather than shutdown."
