Jon's Wheel House / Re: M+h Tires
« on: August 29, 2019, 05:13:12 AM »
I got one set of 10" non beadlocks and the others are 10 1/4" wide single beadlocks.  Not Ideal but might work with slightly lower pressures . These tires sound like what I am looking for.  7.0 Pro and a little quicker. Thanks.

Just like people they are all a little different.  Most of the ones I have had this work on were conventional standard open top and bottom . Tried it on a delta bottom blower with minimal success . Ended up adding extra nozzles.  Only way to know is to experiment.

If the blower is fully open on bottom, and the other cyls on that bank are way safe heat wise. Then check to be sure the nozzle bodies are aimed straight down into the blower. If this is the case then a valid test could be done by twisting all nozzle bodies on one side to aim toward the week cyl. , maybe start at around 20*.  There is a variation on this that I have also use in the past with success and that is to progressively twist the nozzle bodies toward offending cyl.  For example on the right bank to get more fuel to #2  , twist #4 nozzle 30* toward #2 , then #6 nozzle 20* snf #8  turn it 15*  . Nice thing about this is there is no change in nozzle area to compensate for , no purchasing nozzle jets you don't have or modifying any hard parts. Can be done at the track for back to back testing.  I have done this to numerous cars with success. The last one Greg Means, I made the suggestion , he tried it , it worked.  The nozzle holders don' have to face down, it is not a rule written in stone. I have even seen some pilgrims try aiming them at the top of the hat in order to alter the destination of the fuel.

That Mr. Boston altered looks a bit like the one I have seen run out here in Sacramento (Bad News)

Some people use anodized aluminum valves in cast iron valve bodies and the expansion rate difference between the two different metals can cause stiction (technical redneck term) . The fluid pressure and assist spring is usually enough to push the valve when solenoid releases hold pressure but valve can be slower to release.  Usually not  a solenoid problem, that shows up as a transbrake apply problem not release.

Spud Miller's Cave / Re: stainless tubing for injector lines

So far I have found some 304 3/16" tubing with .020" and .028" wall thickness in 6' lengths that is seamless and annealed from Mc MasterCarr and also MSC supply. I will compare pricing and shipping. I need to be sure I still have a 37* flaring tool as I haven't used it in awhile.

What wall thickness should be used for making my injector lines? I was going to order some long lengths of seamless tubing and saw that it is available in several wall thicknesses but wasn't sure which one would be best for this application.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Where to Start

Northern CA chassis builder Davey Uyehara has a shop in Yuba city. He has been building and racing Front Eng Dragsters since the sixties. My car was built by him.  200" with blown alky BBC tor the 7.0pro class. He can build new style or old.

If you can , run as much of your brake line using solid line not flex.  Gives better feel and usually lessens required travel.

-9 is two steps colder than the -7. NGK runs colder as the number goes higher on that series.
