Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Potential FED Build
« on: December 23, 2019, 07:42:52 PM »
Hi!
I don' know if it's still the same but it use to be that dragsters with a 120"wheel base or less had to have suspension, ours 130" no suspension
i've found that short cars wide front axle makes car stable even on temp strips set-up at airports or streets
9" ford all kinds of parts
powerglide use a input shaft made to use a turbo 350 torque greater choice used and off the shelf
build it to SFI specs

best of luck and Merry Christmas

we went with 160", stock length powerglide coupler no driveshaft wide front end and tall rear tires (33") goes straight handles well even on no prep street races(towns allow clubs to run drags once a year) don't have a blower na sbc 406" on alky water in heads drive back to pits
good luck, have fun!

Cometic  MLS worked with the motors we built we had smooth block and heads but wouldn't work on a motor we bought that had a rougher surface didn't realize the problem until after o-ringing   cometic  has or will make any bore size or thickness had some strange stuff made.

we ran 9.2-1 20% over littlefield 8-71 496 BBC on alky 1500 hp on dyno 9000 rpm on the straights using chart gave use 22-1 with the boost.
so 12 -1 seems a high but ran 13-1  6-71 30% over on a drag race 406 small block never dynoed

we had the fuel shut off right after the pump to keep the lines full , belt driven pump, had to raise the frt end for cold starts after warmed started well, we always used gas in the squirt bottles don't know if it's the right but worked for us- 406 na, 406 blown, and 500 blown(had a cam driven pump)
