Welcome and how about some pictures?

Well first off I like very soft springs on my shocks and I like the AFCO shocks. My Altered was at 1675 and had about 650 Hp and had the IC set around 58 inches out and 11 inches up if I remember right. Car has 62% on rear wheels and would wheelie hard and make a right turn. Also it would pop tires out of the lights and just did not handle good. By the way if the car is turning when front wheels are up you correct that with preload or four link and or shock spring. Some use the Anti-Roll bar but I prefer to do most of preload with the four link and fine tune it with the shock spring.
I moved the IC back to about 42 inches out and it is very nice now. It does work the shocks hard but the car drives out and slowly pulls front wheels up. Probably on my car the best location would be about 46 inches but it is not possible with my chassis. If possible on your car I would suggest starting at around 46 inches out if your car has 125 wheelbase and most of weight on rear. Further forward it is the more it lifts front more to rear the more it lifts rear of car and plants rear tires down but you do not want shocks to top out as it will unload rear tires.
I like the wheelie bars fairly low to keep wheelies under 1 foot high. With my chassis set up like this it has carried front tires several hundred feet out just a few inches off the ground and straight as an arrow. You can private message me and I will give you my phone number and will teach you everything I know if you have about 6 minutes. LOL.
I am now at 755 Hp and running 4.90's but it is still working good. PS, my car has 4.10 rear gear and 1.80 trans gears so it sounds as if your combo is close to my older combo.

Tried it out last Sat. Richened it 6% Believe the engine was lean with the original jet as the 6% still showed slight lean. With the jet change, the engine really picked up. Turned 300 more RPMs with the same gear. Bottom line-It was fast for 7 laps-Then pushed out the head gasket. Believe the problem may be too much C/R [over 14.25 to 1] 38-39 degrees timing, but most of all NOT enough Cam Duration. Will rethink the cam before next time out. Also had Ratio rockers [Stock 1 to 1 These were 1.3 to 1 ratio] Not much block or head damage done. It did let out a shower of Sparks. A little show for the Peanut Gallery!  Thanks for All your info and input. Al

I think you need to put it on the dyno. You may find out you are running way too much timing. I started out running 38* and even tried 41* but when I put it on the dyno we learned it did not need that much timing and now run 28*! Yes 28* and it is easier on motor and runs better. My compression is 14.5 with Enderle injection and AFR 235 heads. Much safer to tune on dyno and you can get the fuel mixture perfect in just a few pulls.

Also on the head gaskets I lost a head gasket a few years ago and found some of the head bolts were not as tight as they should have been. I now believe in re torqueing the heads after a few heat cycles and have not had a problem since.

I have not tried the M5 but I have had good success with adding a few percent of Nitro. On my motor on the dyno we tried a 20% mixture with 1 quart of Toluene added. If you are under say 12.5 compression you may not need Toluene or if you are running light load like 5% or so. My motor is 14.5 and it needs the toluene to prevent detonation.
Now with that said up to 20% nitro on my motor (your mileage may vary) I did not need to add any timing or fuel and when we tried fattening it up or adding timing it made it worse. Just adding 3% nitro will pick it up about .06. I usually run 2-5% to get it right on the 5.00 index I run. Does not take much. Hope this helps.

My experience with it at 20% and less (Alcohol injection) is you do not need to add any more fuel or timing and if you do it slows it down. Now at some point over that you will have to add more of both but I have not gone there.  Carb should be the same motor does not know or care if it is carb or injection.

On my SBC I was told to run it at 38* and it ran okay. I even tried it as high as 41* timing and did not have any problems. but when I put it on the dyno we found it liked 28* and it was easier on motor to. Most of the information out there for my heads still says 36* to 38* timing and that is way too much. It only picked up about 10 Hp if I remember right when we dropped it to 28* but it came in earlier and stayed later and easier on motor to. That may not be enough to tell a difference on the track but it could mean the difference between hurting parts.

I think many people are running way more timing than actually needed. The best way to know for sure is dyno it, you can find out best timing and get your fuel curve perfect in half a day and a few hundred dollars. That would take you thousands of dollars and a month of track tuning assuming you did not hurt anything.

I bracket race with an Enderle hat and it works quite well. Stack injectors should be similar.

Spud, I did try the Toluene 1 quart to 5 gallons of 20% mix and it worked very good.  Thank you,
Bruce Did you pick up much with the 20 percent ?

I just tried it on the dyno, before it would not even make a pull with 20% Nitro, Added the Toluene and it made a good clean pull and picked up about 65 HP and lots of torque. Normally I just run a few percent as needed to fine tune it to run the 5.00 but nice to know I can run up to 20% now if needed.
That's very impresive did you change your timing at all or jet ?

The numbers looked good one the Dyno. Moved timing up from 28* to 34* and it would not run. We fattened it up some and it did worse. At 20% with the Toluene it like same tune up as pure Methanol on my motor. Your mileage may vary.

 Thanks Jon.

It runs consistent low 6.80's @ 200 in the heat. Same plugs all weekend. All iron 392" small Chevy. Stack injected, Enderle 990 pump, 63 degrees, 2.91 rear gear (not a typo), powerglide. Weighs 1700 lbs at the starting line and spools up to 6800 RPM at the finish line. Haven't had the heads off in 6 years. Rings and bearings are now on their 8th and final season. Planning to go through it and put a new crank in it this winter.

 Spud

That is truly impressive and great durability.

Thank you for the information. I run the 5.00 NE 2 class and use a few percent of Nitro to run right where I want it to. Even .5 or 1% makes a difference. I usually do not need over 4% so mix is critical.

Thank you! That is the kind of information I needed to know. I will probably send my other one to you to have it as a spare.

I have a question Why do you mix that with Nitro ?

How does that effect the percentage? Or better question how do you get exactly percentage you want when you add Toluene?
