Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / bbc head gasket question
« on: May 14, 2016, 10:30:11 AM »
I'm working on getting the engine for my FED project wrapped up. It's a 4.375 bore 3.75 stroke engine. With steel rods. I was reusing some of my leftovers parts from other projects, and I have about .010 positive deck height on the pistons. So I'm trying to decide what thickness head gaskets I want. What do you feel is the minimum piston to head clearance that is safe?

Cool, I had a good time myself. Picked up a converter, a pair of nice Cal custom BBC valve covers, and a pinion support. Plus a few cj Jeep pieces

Thanks for the offer John, but I already have the front wheels and tires for it.

This is the chassis that was for sale in the classifieds on here. I'm really happy with the car so far. The chassis is nicely put together with a 21 inch hoop to fit a fat boy...lol    178 wheelbase. I used to bracket race a blown alky funny car so I'm going to use up my leftover engine pieces. It's a 526 bbc with a glide. I'm still undecided as to whether it's going to have a carb or injection. I'm just looking to put together something simple and low maintenance.

LOL, that's probably true on the cost. I've noticed that anytime I have something for sale, that everyone thinks it should be given to them

I knew the enderle and the flying toilets both work very well for running consistent. but I was interested in the stack injectors for the classic FED look
