We have had this happen too us on numberous accounts , we have installed new baffels in fuel tank , once we do our burnout and get on the brakes, it seems like we get some type of air pocket through out the fuel system that allows the engine to die, making us look silly out their, we sure could use some help with this issue .we had Spud go through the pump and mag over the last season , motor runs great up till then .
Does this still happen if the tank is 100% full?

Do you have a 180 degree crank in that 6? It sure has a cool sound!

:( Being an inline-6, it better be a 120-deg crank!

700 miles northwest of me... but this can't be more true:

Did you end up with 20 degrees of caster as originally planned? That seems a little excessive to me and may be problematic for backing up and wheel shimmy. I know I've seen this much on older cars but I think ten degrees would be perfectly OK.

20 degrees is just about right for a front motor dragster. 10 is good for altereds and such.

I think old diggers were in the 30 degree ballpark (e.g.: that's what's in Mark Williams print). The wheels leaning on the sides when maneuvering the car in the pit looks cool, but if I were redoing my car, it'd stick with 20 deg.

Turned out perfect. Thank you Bruce. Tie rod is just mock up and very bent. all the steering rods were horrible, very glad I did the change.

Looks great Greg!

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Cost to build a new fed????

Regarding wheelbase, I remember reading an interview with a crew chief of a TF team where he stated they would go for a wheelbase longer than 300 inches if rules allowed it.

Also, given the stickier tires/tracks these days, the engine needs to be located more forward than those bitchin' looking diggers from the past. It's just aesthetics, but a short wheelbase FED with the engine in the middle of the car looks a little weird to me.

I wished my car was longer than 173" (which would require a longer trailer than my current 24-footer).

I am looking at switching to Enderle injection with a Birdcatcher for 2017. I ran 5.26 in the 1/8 with a 1050 gas carb 434 cu set up. Should be a fun fast ride, which it is already is. I can then sell my carb. set up and Spike radiator that I will not need.

Good move Oldschool! Like the doctors said, carbs are bad for ya!  ;)

I did a tall fill with Hard Blok on my SBC 400 (30 over). I measured the bores very methodically before and after the pour and didn't find significant difference (I have measurements in a Excel spreadsheet, but not on hand right now). I touched the bores with a Flex-Hone tool and I was very happy with ring sealing (it was a ring job, not fresh cut bores). But I'm gotta tell ya, it's the last time I go through that messy job, next time I'd go straight to a Dart SHP Pro block.

Good luck!
