Actually I am starting to believe it is a plug that came out of the end of one of the blower vanes. This is not my blower.

There is a recess where it could come out, this is my blower

Looks like it didn’t do to much damage.  Do you run a screen under you hat?  I do on my car and I have found ssome stuff that I am glad it caught!! Not sure how it got in there either I found a 1/2” nut until there once!!! Not sure if I can issue someone off or it just flew up off the track

I run two screens, one on top of the restraint plate and a second on the bottom side

Transmission is out, not the problem, pulled the engine, pulled the front cover, not the problem, pulled the pan, not the problem, pulled the heads. Found this. Have no idea what or how it got there. I have two screens in the injector hat, I have weed burner exhausts (they point down not up), the intake is in tack, no pieces missing, I need to turn the blower (brand new seven runs on it) upside down to see if I can see anything.,

Steve Walczak, Gary O ’corner, and myself worked on the dragster from noon to four today, pulled the front drive, no result, pulled the pan, cannot get it all the way off in the dragster because of the pickup tube. All looks good though, rods have movement side to side. Pulled the rockers, no result, can only get five of the six torque converter bolts out because the engine locks up in a spot where we cannot get to the last bolt to remove it. No result. Next step is to pull the transmission. Maybe later tonight.

We have a gear drive, but is on the list of things to check when we pull the front drive.

Dragster update. It is broke. After testing we saw in the data that it
was misfiring in the upper RPM. Randy of RPM performance suggested one
of the magnets in the degree wheel might be weak. We went to turn it
over by hand to check the magnets and found that the engine will only
turn over so far and then come up solid against something. We are in the
middle of preparing for a move so time is really precious, I hope, with
the help of Steve Walczak,
to do some investigation next week. (Pistons go up and down, valves go
up and down, converter bolts are tight, blower turns freely)) Al Robins
has suggested removing the rockers and trying again, we will also pull
the pump drive. After that the pan comes off. .

I do not remember, but believe it is 13,500

This is not the 28 foot trailer but is the unit on top of the trailer

I have a smaller Carrier unit on the top of my 28 foot enclosed race trailer that I think does a better job.

I went with the Coleman because that was what was on the Motor Home and was hoping for a direct fit.

I would have expected more cooling from a 15,000 BTU unit, but it does the job.

Tow Vehicles / It is getting hot at races, poor time for A/C to fail
« on: August 16, 2018, 07:30:44 AM »
When we went to the race at Norwalk we had a number of systems that failed on the Motor Home. One was the Refrigerator (the gas fired side, the electric ran fine the whole weekend) and that has been fixed and a video produced on that.

Another failure was the step motor (again) that has been replaced and video produced.

We had the line between the transfer pump and the injector pump fail (it wore through due to a rub point on an old clamp (that was documented here).

Finial was the front A/C unit stopped producing cool air. The fan ran, and the compressor ran, but it produced no cool air (on a hot weekend, seem like more and more race weekends are HOT). We were fortunate that we have ceiling ducts. We closed the ones in the rear and left the ones in the front open. This pumped the cool air from the rear unit to the front ducts.

I could not find much information on the process of swapping out the A/C unit. On big question was how to get the unit off the roof and the new on the roof. I was reminded here of a video produced by Terry in his thread Total Rebuild on how he got his A/C unit up

As of today I have yet to speak with any A/C manufactures, left messages (fill out forms online but was never contacted). I ordered a Coleman A/C unit Mach 15 48204C866 as a guess and pretty much in the dark. I thought I had a model 7333C8864 which is a 13,500 BTA unit based on the documentation that came with the coach, wanted to upgrade to 15,000, the A/C unit.

There is very little guidance on the pieces and process needed to do the swap. There are suggestions that you need the A/C unit, a new control unit, and a new grill as the old ones are not supposed to fit. In my case I only needed the A/C unit, the old control model works fine and the grill did not need replacing, in fact had I ordered it, it would not have fit.

The unit I received looks identical to the unit I am replacing (compressor, condenser, plumbing, the old cover fits on the new unit), with a few exceptions. The mounting bolt holes are in a different location, old mounting bolts are 5/16 and the new ones are ¼ inch, the intake and exhaust ports are in the same location but slightly different shapes (I attribute these changes to change made to the unit over the years).

This long video is the process from the new unit sitting on the floor in the garage to testing the temperatures produced from the new unit.

Glenn, Have you ever checked your tongue weight? I made up a fixture to check mine since my tongue jack seemed to be laboring to lift the tongue above the ball.

A simple bathroom scale can then be placed under the moveable jack stand to read weight directly.
[Now watch - Harbor Freight will be selling these next year if they're watching.]

Yes, I have borrowed a Hydraulic tongue weight scale The ball portion goes up into the tongue and you lift the trailer tongue with a floor jack and the scale reads the weight. Just under 2,000 pounds. Trailer hitch on the motor home is good for 16,000 pounds.

that is a nice setup you have.

This is my Bigfoot QT8K-16 Hydraulic Trailer Tongue jack unboxing, install, and review.

I purchased this (as there are other chooses) because the company is family owned and operated. All main components come from the Midwest region (USA Built).

It appears to perform it's function well, but...there could have been more attention paid to the design.

That being said what they did was take their RV leveling piston and convert it for use on the trailer tongue.

It has an 8,000 pound lift capability with a 16 inch travel of the piston.

I run a double spring on the right side of my hat, but on he left side I run another single spring. Now at the last race an odd thing happened I crossed the finish line lifted and watched my throttle arm fall off...... well since I had a spring on both sides my butterflies closed.

 :o

I had a hose get caught between the arm and the hat. Took a second to realize I was not slowing down
