Title: SBC roller cam ID help?
Post by: matt b on August 06, 2018, 03:16:13 PM
Looking for some help - freshening up my 406SBC and replacing the Summer Brothers gear drive with a regular double roller to help solve an oil weeping problem with the Enderle cover / Summers / oil pan fit. While heads are off to be gone over thought I might consider valve springs......but I have a mystery cam.....

Anybody have any idea what this thing might be...it's a reasonably healthy mechanical roller on a small base circle.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure what that is.
You might try to put it in the engine and record all the movement with a degree wheel and dial indicator.
Or you can send it to someone with a cam doctor.

I'm sure there is a shop closer, but Dougherty Racing Cams in Shingle Springs has a cam doctor that an spec out the camshaft for you.

Thanks guys - called around today while I had a few minutes. Bullet cam guys called it as a  Comp Cam, quick ring to them had me the specs and cam card via email. Pretty dang great customer service from both folks.

FWIW cam is a custom grind mech roller, 652 int lift, 657 ex lift, duration @ .050 is 267 int and 278 exhaust with 114 LSA.

Appreciate the help!

Assumed it was a 114LSA looks like a good little blower cam!

Thanks again - was a blower motor in its previous life - now 14-1 CR on Hilborn stack injection. Probably giving a little away naturally aspirated with that wide LSA?

I believe so.  i'd prefer it tighter, but if it's an index car, it should work ok
