I was reading in the altered section something about poured blocks with aluminum heads and "no"water causing issues with something collapsing.
SBF with hardblock and trickflow heads. I was planning not to run water in the engine. I am asking for more info since Iwasn't.

Can someone elaborate and tell me what to do now ????

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: Frame recert.

My car was checked but not tagged about 6-7 years ago. The bars were added but the car was never finished due to slow shops. I am curious as someone else said what bars were needed to re-cert? Pics of before and after please.

dreracecar,
If I install to the engine to the midplate/trans and rearend, shouldn't the crank be level and centered with top framerails if the midplate is the same BBC/SBC? Then cardboard cut out for the front boltholes for front? Utilizing the existing mount for front of engine?

Roo Man's Room / BBC and SBC motorplate question
« on: December 19, 2013, 08:02:00 AM »
I recently bought a rear engine dragster roller that came with the front and mid plates for a BBC. I continually see ads for these dragsters stating that the plates are good for both BBC and SBC. This car had a BBC previously and I am installing a SBC.
Are the plates the same for both? I am told the mid plate is but unsure about the front plate.

The OP may have been asking about stack injection, but these pics are very helpful to me with my bug on a tunnelram.

Spud,
I, just like Janjon, am going to use mechanical injection for the 1st time. But mine is a hat set up on a tunnelram. I had the pump flowed by Donnie Holbrook before he was killed. (RIP Donnie). I don't have nozzles in the hat, but to an adapter plate below the intake right at the head.  410" SB Ford 302 tunnelram to 351W using an Enderle  3 rib Bugcatcher, adapted to trickflow heads. The intake and adapter plate I got from Steve  Lippoldt. (Lippy to most). The hat I already had. I have a Mallory SM III also from Donnie.
Do I need to have the hat/nozzles flowed? I have nozzles in the adapter but ?????
A newby asking probably very silly questions

Spud,
What exactly is a light load? 20-30%  ? Or more?  I have been told that 20-30% really isn't gonna do too much for performance. Is this correct?

Nice build. What's the wheelbase? Engine CI?
My car is a short chassis and looks similar.

I feel the carb and headers on the car at the moment is just fine seeing you are at the track. You will get what you want on the car when you can just like a majority of us have had to do as well.
Good Job getting there,

I started building my FED years ago. Went through 2 shops and multi years of sitting in the corner waiting to be finished. Found a RED reasonable and bought it to have something to go play with. Got another chassis and a footbrake camaro. Putting the engine from the camaro into the 2nd RED chassis. Now too many projects.
How to get back to 1?

Spud Miller's Cave / Max compression to run nitro?
« on: March 26, 2013, 01:33:29 PM »
I have an urge to run some nitro through my alcohol engine. Alky requires some compression and my be too high,  but may want to go (small %)  nitro at some point. Is this a possibility without completely redoing my engine?
Thanks in advance for asking silly questions
