I was reading in the altered section something about poured blocks with aluminum heads and "no"water causing issues with something collapsing.
SBF with hardblock and trickflow heads. I was planning not to run water in the engine. I am asking for more info since Iwasn't.

Can someone elaborate and tell me what to do now ????

Roo Man's Room / BBC and SBC motorplate question
« on: December 19, 2013, 08:02:00 AM »
I recently bought a rear engine dragster roller that came with the front and mid plates for a BBC. I continually see ads for these dragsters stating that the plates are good for both BBC and SBC. This car had a BBC previously and I am installing a SBC.
Are the plates the same for both? I am told the mid plate is but unsure about the front plate.

I started building my FED years ago. Went through 2 shops and multi years of sitting in the corner waiting to be finished. Found a RED reasonable and bought it to have something to go play with. Got another chassis and a footbrake camaro. Putting the engine from the camaro into the 2nd RED chassis. Now too many projects.
How to get back to 1?

Spud Miller's Cave / Max compression to run nitro?
« on: March 26, 2013, 01:33:29 PM »
I have an urge to run some nitro through my alcohol engine. Alky requires some compression and my be too high,  but may want to go (small %)  nitro at some point. Is this a possibility without completely redoing my engine?
Thanks in advance for asking silly questions

Roo Man's Room / Steering rod type question
« on: February 27, 2013, 06:49:19 AM »
I had my car in the chassis shop a while back and the shop had a small fire right next to my car. Shop owner didn't tell me about it and I didn't visit the shop for a couple of months. He used something corrosive (fire extinguisher) to douse the fire. When I went by there, needless to say I was kinda pissed because it has started damaging the chrome steering rods and chassis started rusting.
Took it home, took it apart and wire wheeled everything. I can't afford to re-chrome right now so everything just got a coat of paint to slow/stop rust.
Now to the questions. I removed the front steering. The front end has some spring inside the front tube. The right (passenger) side inside the tube must have sprung and doesn't line up with the other side and a cross steering tube now hits and locks when I turn the steering to the right. How do I correct whatever I have done? The connection has what appears to be an octaganal fitting inside the front tube. When I set it here its too high and set it there way its too low. I find a single hole directly in the bottom center I assume with an allen wrench fitting? Is this where I set this up? I know this probably won't be much help but neither am I.
