We ran a Hilborn stack injected ,methanol, 355 CID SBC in a FED for a few years. Almost all 1/8 mile. I wouldn't be concerned with a high speed by-pass until you are happy with every other aspect of tuning. We ran a best of 5.07 @138 . Combo weight was #1460.

I used block heaters in the water jackets as well as a immersion type 400 watt heater. Heads and block were water filled. It makes for a good pre start warmup.

I ran the Hoosier 31 X 12-15 for years. 12" wheel, no tubes, screws on both sides. I don't see the same tire listed today? I ran 7psi with 4.30 gear and a 1.69 primary. Ran 4.50@158 on a good track. Bruce Browning is my to go to guy at Hoosier tire Midwest in Springfield Illinois.

The Hampton 6:71 made 13-14 at 1/1. It made 21 at 16% over. Those numbers were with blower jell spray and everything warmed up . Chevy 377 all iron engine.

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: FED & Transbrake

Where your two step is, is directly related to where your converter stalls.  Everything I've read over the years, is max effectiveness is roughly 500 rpm under your stall rpm.

Beyond that, you can tune your reaction times with where the two step is.

Yep. Ran the FED with trans. brake. Foot on the floor, left at 5800. Convertor stalled at 6200. Shifted with rpm module and electric solenoid from 6600-7000 depending on track. Most of the tuning was with tire pressure and wheelie bar height.

I ran a SBC with Dart LIL M block and Dart Iron Eagle 230 heads. The block was fully filled with a hard block filler. We did NOT run coolant. Methanol fuel at 13-20 PSI boost pressure. The SBC does have a hot spot at the cylinder head center. We ran a solid copper gasket . The heads were cut with a receiver groove and the block o-ringed. No problems. The best performance was 4.50 @158 and 7.08 @ 193. I know very little about Pontiac but I can share my info with the Chevy. George

I have used the Flaming River combo master kill . Part No.: FR1010 . It was cable operated from the rear of the car. Also had a mag switch in the drivers area.

Tow Vehicles / Re: Alcohol Engine with No Water
« on: November 28, 2018, 09:03:16 AM »
No argument with simplicity. I ran a stock block SBC ,stack injected setup on Methanol. The first year was dry. Freeze plugs were installed . We ran an immersion type heater in the oil pan. After consulting with a much smarter and experienced racer I installed 2 block heaters. One in each side. The engine loved the heat soak. It had more power and showed less fuel in the oil. The engine is now with another racer but if I were to do it again I would go with the water. We ran a fully filled Dart iron block with a blower combination and it always ran stronger after a run or 2. Methanol loves a warm engine. My 2 cents. George

IMO the MSD magneto makes the electronics so easy. We have ran the MSD12LT for 8 years with a 2 step, rpm shifter and rev control. Very dependable and have a rpm playback.
