Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / vacuum pump line
« on: December 03, 2020, 03:41:59 PM »
What type of line or hose is best to use for my vacuum pump?  I do not like the line that came with my Moroso kit, I would like to use black line such as Jeg's 350 nylon braided line but didn't know if that was ok.  Can use standard stainless braided line but wanted to use black. Is rubber inner lining ok or do I need to use the hard plastic inner lining?

Events / Awesome Day for Osceola Dragway
« on: October 21, 2019, 04:56:02 PM »
Today the Elkhart County Council voted to approve updates and a new road course at Osceola Dragway/Hoosier Motorsports Park. The track was purchased by Top Fuel driver Terry McMillen and a couple of investors, they have big plans for a new dragstrip and a all new road course.  Can't wait to see what happens.  Maybe someone with more info will chime in.

Lost and hoping to find / Nostalgia Top Fuel Owner
« on: October 13, 2019, 08:06:43 AM »
Met a man up at Osceola Dragway named Ben Ameling, that's probably not spelled write.  He sounded like a guy that's been around racing for a long time. He said he had a couple of front engine top fuel cars, looked for him at 131 Northern Nationals, but was told he was not there.  Does anyone here know him and possibly have contact info?     Thanks

Jon's Wheel House / New Dragster Tires
« on: October 13, 2019, 07:38:51 AM »
We are looking at replacing our dragster tires, front and rear. We bracket race on the 1/8 mile, run 5.70@ 119. We currently have Goodyear Eagles all around.  Of course our fronts are 22x2.5x17 and our rears are 14x32x15  D5.  I have read on other forums that the Hoosiers are better for a track that is not the best prep'd.  What are your thoughts on that?  I would also like to go to a 15x33x15 rear, any input there?

« on: September 25, 2019, 02:54:50 PM »
My son, Joshen  won top eliminator Sunday at the LiL' MAMA Memorial at Osceola Dragway.  We didn't have a perfect day, we just had a better day than the other guys.  We did not expect to get a check mark in the "W" column this soon so we are both still pumped up!!

« on: August 17, 2019, 11:59:52 AM »
Does anyone know who the front engine top fueler that went into the wall at 131 motorsports park was? They said he got out and was ok but I did not catch his name. I was also looking for Ben Amling but I don't know if he was there, any help?

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Engine Moisture
« on: May 13, 2019, 02:20:45 PM »
We run a 336 SBC with a 850 alky carb, after we make five or six passes and I take off the valve covers there is a large amount of moisture on the stud girdles and rocker arms and laying in the corners of the heads. Anyone have good idea as to why?   We run about 180-200 degrees temp wise.
