Thanks for the reply BuickFED sounds like a cool ride. Still no one with a 10 second car ??

1600lb car only needs 350hp to run 10.0.   id think a bone stock 350 could at least make that much.   throw in some convertor slip and whatever and your 10.2x?

unless you have a huge pump i would run two pumps and also run high psi on fuel side.  purpose for high psi (say 30-40) is the margin is less if your off say 1lb psi.  if your going to run 5psi and your off 1psi, thats 20% of the tune where as how many psi do you need to drop at 30 to be off 20%.  also have to account for volume of fuel on hand if one pump which the reason why you run -10.

Y from the pump using -10 'Y' then to both regulators.  if your going to run the holley reg like a lot of guys do then thats 3/8" pipe i believe.  one side -10 to 3/8 to reg and other side 3/8 to  -4 which is made.  idk if you plan on splitting after the carb reg but i dont feel it would be a good idea.  you T after the reg then is your carb getting the psi it needs and also the volume of fuel it needs?   just look at psi the carb is actually seeing when you turn the kit on.

not sure how your going to split the system but thought i would interject a little bit. the tune is critical when you start messing with power adders.

the other thing too is ignition and battery voltage.  lot of guys will build a big ole 540 lets say and then run a programmable 6 on it with the a blaster coil.  so, make sure you at least have good ignitions like a msd 7 w/ the 2amp coil they sell or sim.  further batt voltage will have an affect on tune too.  think again about the 5psi base fuel.  what happens if the voltage drops a little bit and battery is seeing another amp or two because of demand?

thank you for the replys everyone.  the tracks we would run at i dont think we'll have an issue but i do understand.  if it happens down the road then ill pop one out back.

its a hunt or vertex mag with external coil.   images ive seen on net show to ground >> switch >> coil ground.   so to confirm, one side to positive and other side to negative on the coil for kill switch.   ( power >>> switch >>> ground) just seem like it would mess up something putting power to ground on the coil.   but, thats how the RPM Rev-Limit Relay is wired so must be ok haha.

its interesting there is a distinction between blower starter or remote battery start versus on-board start for external kill switch.  would seem once the motor is running regardless of how started they would want a kill switch.   i guess the idea is down track if an accident happens they can kill power to prevent from restarting once on-seen?  just seems odd why nhra wants one for on=board starter/battery setups and not for remote starter/battery setups.  i did not wire in an external switch.

Spud Miller's Cave / grounding mag
« on: December 31, 2018, 03:20:00 PM »
concerning the mag kill switch.  diagrams show from ground to switch to ground @ coil.   question is for the ground to chassis or ground to motor or ?   i have small 12v battery for dash and electronics.  the ground is floating and not directly to chassis anywhere.

so, where does the 'chassis' ground get connected too on the kill switch?  to the motor, mag base, battery and then ground battery to chassis, or ???

thank you

we can load the car into the trailer and then lower the car down onto the chasis support in the trailer.

Cheers, Jon

Jon,
for chassis support, do you use a bladder or something else?

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking of like a 6' bar between the digger and cart, I just wasn't sure how good it works or if there becomes any binding issues where it hooks to the dragster or if there would be to much movement with heim joints on both ends that could cause problems

From what I have seen the his are 90 def from each other.  One goes vertical and the other horizontal.  So on the digger it would be horizontal. I'm gonna see where I can do this on mine.

great question, im debating both myself.  as mentioned the fast door car crowd likes the push bar setup.  i like the idea of smooth starts versus getting jerked etc. also, you dont have those blind people in staging lanes trippin over the tow strap.

From my experience with EFI and Meth, you have to look at the sensor and the controller and see what the minimum lambda they will read.  most 02 controllers will read down to about .70 lambda or 4.5 meth scale. reason why i bring this up is i talked to Moran one time when i had issues with his injectors and we were discussing 02's.  he told me that on his PM they are  about 3.9 meth scale.   he has been using the Big Stuff efi units for years and i guess BS has 02 add-on that will read that low.  they use the NTK sensors, i think they are the medical grade?  (guessing).. all i know is they are SPENDY...

my point in mentioning this is, i dont know what teh afr would be for meth on something like your going to run.  but, if it will be lower then 4.5 then need to look at the sensor AND the controller as not all controllers will automatically read lower then 4.5 afr on meth scale even if the sensor will.

im gonna guess that if your only make say 1500-2k hp then i doubt your AFR wont go below 4.5 meth scale.

might look at AEM, Innovate, Altronics

Dean, i'm 45 miles from Sacramento. You're always welcome to leave your trailer, etc, at my place (secure 3 acres) if you wanna run back to back weekends @ sac, or whatever.

THanks Greg for the offer. will keep it in mind.
