Title: tear off and blinders
Post by: wideopen231 on August 20, 2018, 05:50:50 AM
.Was talking with former FED driver last week.He mentioned biggest problem he had was to much field of veiw when on the line. Said being so far back you get to see too much and can cause distraction. After sitting in car I can see where it could be issue. While on subject I was watching a video titled why FED's wear tear offs. Small amount of oil but made big mess on shield.

Wondering how many here have or do use either or both?

A few NTF guys use tearoffs.  Personally, I would on any FED.

I am thinking of putting them on my helmet.  I get oiled once or twice a year on average.  It isn't to bad to drive thru.  I only run 60w oil though,

Impact helmets are easy for tear offs.  i'm procrastinating.

Keep-in-mind you will need to buy a helmet shield that has tear-off buttons on it.
Our JF car we have always used a somewhat tall windshield so when we have oil leaking out, it deverts away from the drivers helmet.
Don't crash because you can't see !

Hoping mine does same as far as windshield I designed it taller but laid back as much as could and still get in and out of car. Wanted higher and back more but too hard for old guy getting in and out.

I am slightly biased toward low slug rockets.  I got to crew on one...
