Title: Vintage racing in Scandinavia
Post by: Sidewinder on February 09, 2013, 09:01:02 AM
Vintage racing over here is groving each day. New builds and restorations, and also new people buying cars from the US.
We are just about to finish new rules/guidelines for this type of racing.
Our goal is to certify old chassis that don't meet the SFI rules. I know most of these cars are cackle cars in the US, but we wan't to run them.
Safety is important, but in some cases there are cars that in our opinion could certify.
Take a look at www.svda.se

Had a looksee at your svda.se site.  From the pictures, all of your members are meeting your goal of racing and having fun.  That picture of the Oslo Motorshow, reminds me of a 60s hot rod magazine shot (cool).  I read your rules, I could abide by them.  Seeing the wide variety of dragsters in your club, good reminder of the old days when 20-30 fuel dragsters would show up for a meet.  Each fed different and reflection of the owner (and his buddys) tastes, basically each car with it's own personality.  I think back then, the car was the "star" not the driver.  Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the kind words:)
It is exsaktly as you say, more focus on the cars, and making a good show. Kida like a cirkus:)
Our pit really stands out, with lights in the evening and a lot of good wibes.
Our Dragster, Altered and Funny class, covers ET's from 6 sec. to 10 sec. But more cars are performing faster and faster ET's.
Now most of the cars are running alky, just one on pops.
The fastes FED set a new record in 2011, 6.61 sec with a blown alky 392 cid old Hemi. The rpm at the end was 8500!!!
that ended in a big bang. Now he is making a new 392!:)

Had to post this picture, really cool taken a few year ago. Now this guy is running high 7.sec ET's with a blown  302 cid SBC.

Sidewinder - Enjoyed seeing your pictures.  Thank you for taking time to post.  For my friends here too, drag racing includes more than just making a pass and winning a round....  DF
