Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Looses oil pressure
« on: August 16, 2023, 05:38:59 AM »
I have a Dart little m block 400 Cid fresh build with a melling 10550st high volume oil pump and a 7qt pan. When I make a 1/4 mile pass it looses oil pressure the last hundred feet or so and after I let off it comes back. I go through the traps at 7800 rpm could it be sucking the pan dry?

Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / Clutch pack
« on: July 07, 2021, 04:12:08 AM »
I am running a 383 SBC with a 8-71 in a FED and and rebuilding the power glide. Should I upgrade to a 8 clutch pack or will a new 6 and band be fine? I don't think I make any serious hp the car runs in the 8.5 area but I did smoke the clutches in there now.

I have seen allot of people that don't run one with no radiator. I would think you would want one for the expansion but have seen do many without so I wasn't sure.

Events / Nostalgia drag race
« on: March 07, 2019, 09:30:09 AM »
We are having a nostalgia drag race on July  6-7 in Kearney Nebraska. This is our first year so we are keeping it simple,  there will be a nostalgia eleminator class that will consist of front engine, center steer, dragsters, funny cars and altered's. We will be running a .4 pro tree and index starting at 7.5 increasing at. 5 to fit the group of cars that show up. No electronics or automatic shifters but trans brakes will be permitted. There will be cash payouts for both days. There will also be a hot rod class pre 1972 no electronics or automatic shifters using a sportsman tree. Come on out and enjoy a great weekend

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: nostalgia eleminator type event
« on: December 21, 2018, 05:00:50 AM »
I was throwing the index's out there for reference and that's what i was wanting to find out what range to run it, or do a dial in, or I have seen a one shot dial in. I'm defanitly not wanting to limit cars and am looking for an average poll of what people would want to see to attend. I know 6 months isn't verry far away, I'm working on getting everything set now.

Thanks for the input, was thinking of doing 1/2 second index starting at 7.50 to 9.0. And yes pro tree
