Going over the car and getting it ready for HRR

Also have a few ladies getting ready to drive.

Changed torque converters hoping to help horrible 60 ft times (can't get any faster than a 1.20) and possibly overall time.  Removed the Specrite 5500 that would barely stall to 5000 and replaced with a new 8 inch Continental that is supposed to be 6k.  I was very impressed with the customer service I got from Continental and the new converter is probably 10lbs or more lighter.  Will give an update after we take it out on the 26th.  Also, we will be trying out 5 gallons of M5 and will give our impressions and any improvements.

This is how we roll our FED to the track.  Trailer came with the chassis when I bought it but have done some upgrades.  You do get a lot of thumbs up when going to the track.

After chasing our tune for a few test n tunes we decided to go with much bigger main jets to hopefully fix a very rich condition at the starting line and also horrible 60ft. times.  We have not had a chance to take it to the track but the car sounds much cleaner and revs quickly and comes up on the transbrake great.  We did find out that our specrite converter that is supposed to be 5500 only stalls to 4500, but this has been another issue dealing with them and their horrible customer service.

Thanks for the responses guys.  Everything seems to be working good on my car now but I see a lot of Magneto's on injected cars so I was seeing if it would be worth the money to switch over and if there were any real benefits to it.

Spud Miller's Cave / Switch to Mag?
« on: July 06, 2014, 08:18:39 AM »
So after converting to alcohol injection on my car it still is running the MSD system (2 step, 6al box coil and billet distributor).  There is a Mallory SuperMag III for sale local with a coil for $350.  I have never run a Mag before so would I need to buy anything else and what performance gains or other reasons to switch to a mag?
thanks
Scott
