how wide are your 31s , do you stage at idle or a higher rpm? i would try the 5.00 gears, even with 29 x 10 which would like because of your hp i would run more gear

i prefer a low gear and tall  narrow tires we run 4.88 with 33x10.5 it all depends on the track conditions

hey let's see some pics and more info on the build.

Is this for an oval track car? if your EGT is 1140 and you have 100 jets adding nitro will make it leaner so the jets will have to be drilled or removed completely and are the passages in the carb big enough to carry the extra fuel?

If you can take you torque or send to someone in your area that builds race converters and get them to loosen it up, the car will be easier to drive and more consistent.. For oil I use Brad Penn and as stated above you don't need a lot of spring pressure and it helps the cam and lifters last longer

has anyone modified a 4L60E for racing, who has the best manual valve body/or kit.
the car is a 52 chev street & mostly strip gasser with 57 olds motor.

i don't know if this is right, I do the same procedure as after racing empty tank add gas let it run until it stalls the empty the tank dump type f trans fluid in disconnect the the hoses at the pump drain it fill with fluid remove carb drain spray with wd40 put it away upside down so that the needles do't stick. i have two injector system to do one is a stack and the other is a toilet and don't know how to do the injectors and small hoses.

we switch from gas to alcohol 5 years ago we ended up removing the rad and pump as it wasn't needed .After the day empty the tank add gas and let it run until black smoke shoots out of the headers and idles rough.
ran jet extensions in the rear bowl now we just changed to injection. like everyone says you'll never look back

heat the oil before starting, it  would get milky when we used a carb couldn't get it lean enough idle-mid range and would go lean on top end  changed oil after every day. Have changed to   injection and will be running it on a dyno in the near future

when we ran gas 406 we used Rotella t and didn't have any bearing problems then switched to alky we had to change bearings after every outting, a change to Brad Penn resolved the problem
we used a stockcar oil pan on at first and oil pressure dropped on braking then went to a Steff's dragster pan
I wouldn't recommend a fram filter to anybody
