Gas:
I looked at your other posts and did not see a mention of what you are using for a filter so apologize in case I missed it.
What filter are you running. Have you taken it apart or cut it open?
Have you had a chance to watch your oil pressure when your braking from a burnout or shutting down?
Be really curious as with what you say your seeing in the oil and returns on heads.
From what you are saying I totally agree with Matt FWIW. better to use up a few gaskets then window the block. At least a dive on the bearings.
Just a shot in the dark but are you sure you have your converter spacing correct?
just throwing it out there for your consideration. No disrespect intended.
good luck
Luke

Hi Luke, i dont think i mentioned the filter either. I use FRAM HP4 filters, but i have not split the last filter. I`ll do that tonight and see whats inside.
I dont watch oil pressure down the strip, i have a gauge for my guy to watch at startup and before and after burnout.
I will split open the entire engine anyway. I dont think i will risk anything.

I will check converter spacing again while at it.

Thanks :)

Yeah, idle was too low, i realize that now, especially after seen these movies.
I guess i can skip the tach in the beginning, just wanna go fast and find the engines limits before i start trying to run consistent.

BUT; i found flakes in the oil yesterday night, so i have to tear it down for inspection. Actually that means im doing a full rebuild. I want to make sure everything is in the best condition for next years racing.

I flushed the engine with alky last night and poured it into a clean container. Lots of tiny glitter, and even some bigger flakes. So i am tearing the engine down! Pretty sure its aluminum.

Pretty sure its aluminum or brass, because there arent a single microscopic tiny bit on the magnetic drain plug.
No aluminum rods..
Can be a bearing or magnetodrive maybe. Think i'll play safe and split it open. Have a few things i would like to improve anyway.

There is one race left this season on my local drag strip before the winter gets back here...Race or save?
After last oil change, i think it looks like there is sparkles in my oil.... micro flake...very very tiny, you probably know what i mean. I havent seen anything of this before (i have changed oil after every two runs). But that said, i dont find it easy to see anything at all when its mixed with alky. We decided to run it a little bit leaner for the two last runs, so this oil isnt as grey as it has been before and that might be the reason i noticed now...not sure.

Something is wearing, but not sure what it is.

I have planned to rebuild this winter anyway, just wonder if i should start now, or try a few more runs.

New personal best two times this weekend!  8)
1/4 @ 9.17
then
1/4 @ 9.08  (60ft = 1.300, 1/8 = 5.76)

Tried to step ut up a little on the main pill from .070 to .075 after the 9.08 run, but it didnt make any noticable difference and i did two 9.3`s. Bad start on one, and shifted a little bit early on the other - my fault.
I ran without trans brake this time also, but im not getting any good starts (low rpm), so im going to wire it up before next race.

Ok. a prepped track  What is the TF car running?

Not sure, i was busy with my own car so didnt get the chance to watch it, only hear it  8)
But i know they had tuned it down quite a bit to save things as they run in the European series...
More about the TF team here; for those interested; http://www.rfmotorsport.com/history

What does the race track do to prepare the racing surface?

Its a fully prepped track. They ran a top fueler there at the same event for show. Lots of super twin bikes etc...

I got an invite to run for show at vw event at the same track next weekend, so i will run the same setup again as many times as i can, then try to lean a little bit on the next event.
Also checking if the high speed has been activated. Got a tip to put a little grease at the bottom of the pill holder.

How much do you think i can improve my 60 foots with using the trans brake?

I was lucky to get my car on the scales, and it weighs 607.5 KG with full tank (but not me included)!
Another question, how much air should i have in the tyres? We ran between 6.5 and 7 on all six runs.

Here`s a few pictures...

Had my first weekend with 1/4mile racing. Great event and the weather was good for almost the entire weekend.
Started "bad"...i had forgotten to properly secure the clip that holds the shifter cable wich resulted in that i couldnt find 2.nd gear. Lesson learned. 1/8 6.34 and 1/4 11.64
Next round i lost focus and turned off early. 1/8 6.16 1/4 10.39
On the third run i deep staged, wich i thought was not allowed, so i reversed it...stupid me.
1/8 11.25 1/4 14.77....but this time top speed was 222.22 km/h
Run nr four was better 60ft 1.407 1/8 6.08 and 1/4 9.57, speed 222.91 km/h
On the fifth run i tried to step on the brake and get a little bit more rpm, but was a fiasco and i bogged off the start with a red light. 60ft 1.67 1/8 6.34 and 1/4 9.76 - better speed this time, 228.57 km/h.
Engine is running very rich, so i changed the main pill from 060 to 070 before the eliminations started on sunday..
60ft 1.32 1/8 5.90 and 1/4 9.29 - 233 km/h
Red light again, and im out. Thats life.
Engine is still running rich, im not using the trans breake, i dont have ANY electronics or ways to help me....other than a oil pressure gauge for my team to check once in a while.
Think i really need a tach and wire the trans brake. Not sure what to aim for, but it feels like there is lots more in it...

Come on man the suspense is killin' me. I saw the pic's on Facebook but no word from you? How did you go on the weekend?

Sorry :)
It went better than i hoped for, although we struggled a little bit on saturday with various issues. We had a great weekend, and there was lot of nice people helping us and gave us thumbs up!

Here is a video from one of the test-runs on sunday:

A great weekend is over! We learned A LOT...and spent most of saturday wrenching on the car! But all in all we are all very happy  8)
I got my license upgraded, and i got the chance to test the car for a few runs. That was more than i hoped for.

Here is my first test run on sunday (burnout went good, but my daughter didnt catch it in this video):
