Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / moderate blower od
« on: May 11, 2016, 11:49:23 AM »
Looking at a blower i can get at good price. Thinking about having a second setup for nostalgia type event and shows. Its 6-71 so as to work with rules.

While my basica engine combo can handle about what ever i can throw at it with this blower.Heck use be same parts in fuel cars when they where piddley 7500 or 8000 hp. Wondering what kind of power a 6-71 with moderate overdrive say 25 to 35% would make. This is on 496 ci Tfx-92 with bae heads, 12.5:1 compression and mag 12.

Would require cpl upgrades to trans. Also wondering about the motor at 49" out, setup for injected motor.Only thing have to buy to make blown would be blower everything else is sitting here on shelf or hanging on wall including 4 new belts.

Any idea on power with this lower drive.Use to 50 to 60% od.If 35% too much for mild setup?

« on: April 30, 2016, 07:11:51 AM »

Right not researching options.Have to sale few high ticket items to make truck and trailer purchase's.

Spud Miller's Cave / Nozzles in head
« on: February 18, 2016, 05:51:32 AM »
My hemi heads have been drilled and tapped for down nozzles, used fuel heads. While reading post on rotary injectors I noticed few comment about nozzle placement. Most sem to think dry runner and port aided in increase air.Having read few things about amount of fuel in intake charge occupying area instead of air it makes good sense.

Is there any gain by using down nozzle location.Since its NA motor seems I could just plumb regular nozzles in that location. Not something I want to do from start, figure get good baseline tuneup then try few things and this could be one thing to add to list.

Spud Miller's Cave / cfm rating for enderle hat's
« on: January 30, 2016, 05:53:53 AM »
Spud,

Wondering if you knew cfm ratings(lots of factors for actual) of enderle hats.Bug,bird and buzzard. More less just like to know for educational reasons.

Also if don't mind.Whats if any thoughts on injector size for NA engines.Asking because I have 3 options for motor and pretty sure I will be trying all and more at some time. Have D ported bird, personally think way overkill.I have a 3 blade low profile home built piece. Also have a two blade(bird catcher butterfly's) piece thats lot like Ron's toilets and bolts to sheetmetal intake.Lowest and easiest to see over. Would scoop help here or no real effect? Sure would kill sight advantage of it.

Dan Dishon's Transmission Den / line pressure for cooler
« on: December 30, 2015, 06:47:50 AM »
Any idea what pressure is on cooler lines for PG. Thinking of using some aluminum tube I have here for running from trans to cooler .Ligheter and dissipate heat quicker also.Oh yea and ZERO cost.As long as pressure is low enough to be safe.Cheap part break, car hit wall = big loss.NLMAO

Spud Miller's Cave / pressure drop across jet or fitting
« on: December 21, 2015, 08:14:52 AM »
Spud,
Wondering if you have fomula for figuring pressure drop across orfice like jet or fitting.Working on system  for nitrous enrichment(I know not your thing).I have it set up so its fed off of bypass at BV.It will have plenty of fuel available just need to figure pressure so I can work on getting regulator.Yes I know stand alone system just for nitrous would be easier, but involve sperate pump and basicall whole system just for it.Will not be using enough for all of that.

If you know how to best figure w/o bench which would be best.Let me know.

Spud Miller's Cave / Tank vent
« on: December 18, 2015, 03:59:16 PM »
I don't see a problem with this, but if I could see everything I would have won the lottery few times. I have a 1/2" line welded into top front of tank running back to rear and down w/#8 so I can cap it off when not at track to keep moisture and dirt out.If questionable I cam add another line on left side.

Pump is 7gpm DSR using less than half and return to tank. Also #6 return. Any flow problems anyone forsee?

What if any advantage is there to using royal purple ATF over a leading brand synthetic. Cost is twice as much wondering if benifits are there also.

Exactly what is required as far as bars.I have diaganols that cross right at braks and throttle. Could not find anything in my copy of SFI spec.Have belly pan now.

Roo Man's Room / Steering stop
« on: September 28, 2015, 05:32:48 AM »
Looking for ideas on steering stop.Since I went and built fronend narrow, above legal limit, but narrow enough that during left's the tire could get into draglink right bfore steering locks out.

Have looked at spindle mount idea.Using a thread piece with adjustable bolt.

Also thought about a stop  collar on drag link at suports would have to be on middle bar near front. Thinking might work loose and cause either no stop or  bind up and prevent left turn if worked its way foward.
