Down Nozzles are  worth over 50 Horsepower in a 410   Sprint car motor.  The atomized fuel does not block port air flow.

Highly recommend rear trans support cross member.

Our Dedenbear glide case is full length with a rear mount. Our motor is out 52 in... our car is a 225 inch ,  2002 Spitzer  FED....with a 388 supercharged small block on methanol. It runs 6.70s and 205...  We used to run nat. asp...  A/ND and Jr Fuel...    The drive shaft is Mark Williams with Greek couplers on the rearend and trans. , secured by clamp collars, leaving 5/16 front to back clearance in the drive shaft assembly..    Google ...Hadford Racing and car picts.  will come up.

The transmission mount is a heavy duty urethane style mount..... it is two metal plates molded to a urethane block, not solid metal mount. Jegs and Summit have them...... about  $35.00

The lower side of the mount bolts to a plate that is welded  to a slip tube that runs parallel to the drive shaft...  This tube set up is a front to rear slip joint...  tube inside tube set up.

This set up provides  support for up and down and side to side movement, but does not restrict front to back movement.  ( motor plate flex)...

Our car is  sub  1.0 sec.  60 foot capable and all has survived for hundreds of runs... over the years.

My vote would be camshaft  center line....

Check out our car on facebook under Hadford Racing       google.... Hadford Racing and it will come up.  look for the launch picture at Mission Raceway. We have made over 75 runs with this set up.....  works very well

We have run a best of  6.72  and  205  in the   1/4...... Car is very stable when chute is popped.  Have also popped both chutes..... stable ...... not enough roll out...... did not make it to the turn out....    : )

Hi   .... Food for thought. ...

We run a 225 in. front motor dragster with a trans brake glide. ... 388 supercharged small block on methanol....  1700 pound car with driver.   low 6.70 s and 203. mph are common runs on a good track.   1.01- 1.03   60 foots are also common.

A couple of years ago we discovered the number "One thousand and twenty fifth" way to loose a race. We were at Woodburn Oregon,  Pro Nostalgia drags.

Round two, our car left the starting line normally, moved about 20 feet shuddered and leaped in the air like a frog.   At one time, it had all 4 wheels off the ground, per the announcer in the tower.

I let up and shut down.. and we towed the car off the track.  I thought for sure we had broke a ring and pinion and it had locked up.

The  car rolled free after all that and the gears in the rear end looked ok, as viewed through a large fill plug opening in the top of the housing.   WTF... ???

Fortunately we have the trans brake activation voltage instrumented in our Race Pak system. We were able to look at the activation as it matched to the initial launch.  The trans brake switch had applied and released many times during the first 1/2 second of the run... my hand had already moved to the shifter lever. My thumb was not on the button.

We were able to test the transbrake /  switch button activation and found that it was right on the edge of activating and the slightest vibration would set it off, and cause multiple activations and releases.

A new , different switch design solved the issue...  That won't happen again.  We are now searching for the next SNAFU..   :)

Bruce is right on with a crew person strapping the driver in.....   Only way to go.

I went to Taylor Motorsports  7 point harness with cam lock........two years ago.    Works really well...   you may have to add anchors for the belts that go around your thighs... ( you actually sit on those belts)  The lap belts are pull up...( I made up an  S shaped .5  dia. tube tool to pull the lap belt tight the first time that adjustment stayed. No need to redo)

The 7 point system works way better for the parachute hits.....

The belts are nomex covered and all wrap tubing with special belt threading through metal plate buckles.  No bolt on steel anchors.

Dennis Taylor was very helpful and they can be re-certified.

You nailed the car....     Don said that motor was still at Hilborn, a few years ago. They were way ahead of their time.

Don also said it sounded like an old Buick with a hole in the muffler.    :)

You could call him and get more details. I am not sure of the fuel.  He still works at Hilborn.  Also called Fuel Injection Engineering.

He is racing a nostalgia JR fuel car at Bakersfield this weekend.

Our motor is 52 " out has been there since 2002, through the A/ND comp years.  the chassis is Spitzer 225 in  minus FED.    The glide is full length. the rear end is a Strange 12 bolt drop out for a 9" housing.

Our change to the supercharged 400 and all the crap we added, including a 7  gal fuel tank up front,  two 10 pound  fire bottles ( original was one 5) , 3 gallons of water for cooling, plus water tank next to the dry sump tank, increased the car weight from 1460 with iron nat.  asp motor to 1730 with blown motor, iron bow tie block, aluminum AFR heads and an 871 blower and a bird catcher.

Our car grew from 1460 LB to 1730 lb including driver (200lb with gear)

Our best performance to date is   6.71 and  202 mph (Mission Raceway last month... mid to high 6.80s at Woodburn and Bremerton in the heat)    with zero to 10 pounds front end weight. There is also an 11 pound Odessy battery in the nose.

Rear tires are goodyear  2070s with Sander Eng. bead lock wheels.

Our long wheelie bar is ridden for several feet every run.

Put your motor out at least 52 in.  maybe more......      :  )

Front Engine Dragsters / Fuel Tank anodizing for methanol

Is it necessary to anodize a 3003 aluminum fuel tank?  We drain after each race and use VP fuel M2 lube.
